Former Army soldier Chelsea Manning will be released from prison next week, her attorneys announced Tuesday.
Former President Barack Obama commuted Manning’s prison sentence in January, cutting short a sentence that would have originally ended in 2045.
Obama said that Manning, a former Army intelligence analyst, had served a “very disproportionate” prison sentence for leaking military secrets.
“For the first time, I can see a future for myself as Chelsea,” Manning said in a written statement. “I can imagine surviving and living as the person who I am and finally be in the outside world.”
“Now, freedom is something that I will again experience with friends and loved ones after nearly seven years of bars and cement, of periods of solitary confinement, and of my health care and autonomy restricted, including through routinely forced haircuts,” she added.
“I hope to take the lessons that I have learned, the love that I have been given, and the hope that I have to work toward making life better for others.”

I am just wonder where he/she/it thinks it will be a safe place to live? In prison, it might well have lasted to 2045, but “on the outside,” I think 2045 is a real stretch.

Sad to say that we may still be on the hook for the costs as he started the whole trip to fruitopia when he was still in the Army. He shouldn’t be able to collect one dime but the regs on this may require it.

I could be wrong, but I see this person as someone destined to be energized by his resentment and blaming of others. A very negative. corrosive type of energy. Similar to what many Hillary voters are prone to do. He can either become a public celeb for a few months, making novelty tours on shows like The View, become a Mascot du jour for treason, or he can disappear into the abyss of anonymity. We shall see.
