Howdy, EGC! (((hugs)))
All is well here. It’s a beautiful quiet morning here. Gonna get hot this afternoon, but right now it’s a coolish 69 and peaceful, as Sunday should be.
Did you and Bo have fun yesterday? Were there any critters to poke at? Where will your adventures take you today?

Im afraid to ask....are you sure winter and snow are over?
Winter is over according to the calendar but of course the clouds can not read. The high mountains got another dusting last week. Joe Bastardi says “Enjoy the weather, It is the only weather you got.”

No, there were no critters to poke at but we did find a turtle shell out there.
There were also quite a few people out at the lake as well.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS AND OUR BELOVED NATION!
Amazing Grace (Click)
By John Newton
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed!
Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, Who called me here below, Will be forever mine.
When weve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, Weve no less days to sing Gods praise Than when wed first begun.

DEAR LORD, who suffered torment, agony, and death upon the Cross to free our souls from the chains of iniquity, protect and defend our troops. Guide them in the performance of their duties. Strengthen them to endure hardship, danger and deprivation in Your service. Let their efforts free the people of Iraq and Afghanistan from the chains of terror and slavery, foster a lasting peace in the region, and bring all to a greater share in Your Mercy. Amen.

Thank you for asking. Douglas recently received a service medal and commendation. Then he transferred to the 15th Marine Expeditionary unit. They're doing sea trials right now and will leave July 7th. I will miss him very much. On the other hand, I get to drive his truck while he's gone. 😀 How are things with you? I think we got some of your weather down here, thank you so much.

Thanks for asking. Its been a bit of an adventure lately. Douglas received a Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal. It was dated January 29, 2017, but he actually received it during an all-Company ceremony on March 17, the Friday before he transferred to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. It turned out to be something of a going-away present.
Douglas became the Motor Transport Platoons Maintenance Chief from June of 2016 to January 2017, upon the premature departure of the previous chief who was medically retired. Though only a Corporal, he was still the senior NCO in the maintenance section, so the position fell to him. To make matters even more of a challenge, the section was at 50% of its manning levels, though the workload wasnt. And he wasnt taking care of just his own trucks, he took in cases from other Platoons. And he supervised the Inspection of Communications Companys entire vehicle set. And he did it all while maintaining his composure.
Douglas would call and tell me he was all alone at the shop. I thought he meant he didnt have enough qualified people to work with him, which was true. What I didnt understand until I read the Summary of Action was that he was without a Sargent, he was the NCO in charge of the whole operation. He didnt think anyone was noticing, but they did.
Now hes with the 15th MEU, and is just a tiny cog in a big wheel instead of the big wheel himself. But I think he will grow to fit the new wheel. Hes been assigned to a ship and will set sail July 7th for a grand tour of the Pacific. He will be gone for nine months. I will miss him terribly. Im already depressed. While hes gone, I do get his big truck to drive, though.
I think we got a piece of your Alaskan weather here this last weekend. The weather service issued a winter storm warning and the mountains got snow. It was refreshing after days of 80° weather, but my zucchini plants are glad to see it go.
Take care!
