A new bill has just passed the NC House that would allow North Carolina drivers to legally hit protesters who are blocking the road without being sued, as long as they exercise due care.
North Carolina House Bill 330 was passed by a 67-48 vote.
It was introduced by Republican Justin Burr and provides that a person driving an automobile while exercising due care is immune for civil liability for any injury to another if the injured person was participating in a demonstration or protest and blocking traffic.
As weve seen, time and time again, as folks run out in the middle of the streets and the interstates in Charlotte and attempt to block traffic, Burr said. The Republican commented that he wants to ensure that drivers dont have to fear driving through Charlotte or anywhere in North Carolina.
This bill does not allow for the driver of a vehicle to target protesters intentionally, he added. It does protect individuals who are rightfully trying to drive down the road.
Charlotte saw a number of roads blocked after the death of Keith Lamont Scott and the protests that followed last year.
The bill is now heading to the NC Senate for final approval.
What do you think about the new law?
Sure, as long as we can hit the drive-thru!

If people choose to be bowling pins why not do them a favor and act as their bowling ball?
LOL! My parents took me to see that movie in the theaters around 1975 when I was around 13 and it totally bugged me because I was a huge David Carradine fan because of the TV show Kung Fu, and too see him act like that in that movie totally depressed me. That is wild, I never forgot that.
Have to wait until at least the tracks get rebuilt and back on my latest project. And at least get the DT [DT= ДТ, DT, Дегтярёва танковый/ Degtyaryova Tankovy]; bog gun reworked and installed. Never know when pesky dismount protesters might get in the way, and I'd hate see goo get in the new tracks.
Whatdawant from the drivethrough? Here's your frosty!
Are you saying the concept of “... ripping out their living guts and using them to grease the treads of our tanks...” is an outmoded concept?
It's a good line for an assembled Division or Regiment, most of whose personnel, even in the Combat Commands, aren't tank crews. But not really for tank crews.
If he'd been having a nice private conversation with his tank crews, he'd have called them tracks, not treads. And rather than *greasing the tracks with their living guts,* he'd have suggested a short run up and down along the landing beach saltwater trust to rust the track end connectors and center guides in place, cutting down on maintenance a bit during the first 100-150 miles of taking the beach/beachhead/linkup work. Four hours maintenance for every hour of operation is the rule, then and now, and when you have to get on the nuts to tighten each and every one with a ratchet socket wrench, you don't want *a bunch of goo* on your tracks. Nor mud, as far as that goes, but there's not much you can do about that. Or, sometimes, the guts. But hit the washrack, or the beach, or a handy pond or river first, if possible.
Likewise his *bunch of goo* that came from his comment about *reaching into a mess of goo that used to be your best friend's face,* was and is not a real common ending or event for tankers. Mostly we go out an entire crew at a time, too often by burning.
It didn't work out that way, but by comparison, the WWII-era era M4A1E8 was downright comfy.
archy, great background comment--thanks for sharing!
A common sense approach to people attempting to nullify the rights of US citizens using the roadways for transportation purposes. Protestors have no right to hijack highways, electric utilities, water supplies, airports, public vehicles, or property rights of anyone.
They can send another ambulance for the protestors with tread marks.

How are the chains and balls used??
Clearing minefields.
Why not just give police the power to arrest these people without repercussions? A nights in the cooler would do wonders.
Agreed. This law is idiotic and makes the protesters look like victims.
Additionally, I would make it a felony to block a road with a mandatory minimum sentence of 18 months in prison and at least 18 months of probation. Additionally, they will be required to pay all court costs.
