No. One rank down. An E-8.
In the Army, for pay purposes, an E-8 can be either a Master Sergeant, or a First Sergeant. An E-9 can be either a Sergeant Major, or a Command Sergeant Major.
The First Sergeant outranks the Master Sergeant, and the Command Sergeant Major outranks the Sergeant Major.
There is also a Command Sergeant Major of the Army. This person is THE senior enlisted member of all enlisted personnel. There is only ONE of them Army wide.

Ferdinand with Willie Shoemaker on him. He won the 1986 Derby and then the 1987 Eclipse Award. He enter stud farm and then sold to a breeding farm in Japan in 1994 and was sent to slaughter in Japan with no notice to previous owners. This outrage has lead to the Ferdinand Fee donation fund. This fund helps the transitioning of retired racehorses into second careers.
Per Wikipedia-In September 2006, the United States House of Representatives approved H.R. 503, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, which would ban the slaughter of horses in the United States. The bill did not make it out of committee in the Senate, however. In January 2007, the bill was re-introduced. As of 2012, the act has not been passed into law.

[ Trumpet calls? ]
That’s what I was searching for- and instead, I came across a horse race being called as the 2016 Presidential Race.

What kind of device are you using?
I’m using a laptop from home.
I get the trumpet search results, then a window opens in the upper left corner with a broadcast from MSNBC, that is the Republican Gold Cup race.

I used to go to the Derby. I knew a ‘Colonel’ pass holder.
Last time I went, I ended up drenched in the infield. That was a MESS.
