Today is horse racing day.
The Lul-ville station have all day coverage of all the races for the day with great color of the track, the people and the horses.
I think I’ve picked my horse then they give the background on another and I change again. I’d be a horrible gambler!
Would that be equivalent to Sergeant Major in the army I believe..
Thanks jenny and freepersup...
Got this in an email yesterday.
Kentucky Derby
The winner is J Boys Echo
Don’t bet the ranch (Just the back 40 acres!!)
I am hoping for Patch......it would be grand to see him win after having lost his eye.
We went to the Derby one year and got in the stands, through mischievous means.
When the Derby race started we were in the aisle and this guy who had a box for years asked us to come into his box to watch. We were at the start finish line, we couldn’t believe it,was amazing.
Saw Debbie Renyolds there, she was toasted, also saw AJ Foyt in the bar.
46-1 big odds. Not in my 4 I am boxing. I think the field is really open this year.
Patch has my heart BUT others my head
It is an amazing place to be on Derby day. I’ve been to many and the thrill never leaves. Its a big party of people from all over the world. The nicest party ever. Willie Shoemaker was my first jockey win with Lucky Debonair.
Have been to the Down’s -— but never on Derby days. Can’t take the crowds would rather watch from chair.
LOL, I did not know the odds, did not check them.
Got the tip from a big time gambler though.
We went to Derby that year and at the end of the month we went to Indy 500. What a year.
What wars your largest/biggest win?

Thank YOU!
A kind of been there-done that story follows, that dovetails into the cops using deadly force on fleeing criminals trend.
My next door neighbor’s teenage son broke into my house on the same day that I had gotten back to the states from working overseas. He was in the house and I surprised him. Unbeknownst to me, he was hiding in the first room off of the entryway.
I walked into the house and made my way to the back of the house, towards the kitchen, when I heard the unmistakable sound of the bottom of the door rubbing. I thought- whose coming into my house and went to the door. I saw this derelict kid going out the door, and I followed him out with a brass padlock still in my hand. I had the urge to throw the padlock into the back of his head, and could have easily done so, as I was elevated on my porch and less than 10 feet of space separated us. I chased him on foot, but lost the race, as I was wearing 5 buckle snow boots (size #17) and negotiating about a foot of snow.
In the blink of an eye, I had to make a decision whether I was entitled to use physical force on a fleeing burglar, and knowing the state laws of Illinois, I erred on the side of caution, so I held my fire. I really wanted to bean that scumbag in the back of his head with that heavy brass padlock. Lord forgive me.
I called the police and they eventually caught up with the kid and arrested him for breaking and entering, but being a juvenile with abominable parents, it really didn’t have any lasting effect on junior.
I have yet to turn on the telly... I better hop to it.
