A HUGE US Navy super-carrier is gearing up for war off the coast of North Korea after Kim Jong-un's third test fire flop this month.
USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier group arrived in waters near the Korean peninsula, where it will join the USS Michigan, a guided missile submarine that docked in South Korea on Tuesday.

Grrrr, that first sentence should read: The U.S. has smaller ships that can carry and operate combat aircraft.
I was aboard the USS Wisconsin for Desert Shield/Storm. One of the greatest experiences of my life.
Carl Vinson (November 18, 1883 June 1, 1981) was a United States Representative from Georgia. He was a Democrat and served for more than 50 years in the United States House of Representatives. He was known as The Father of the Two-Ocean Navy.
In recognition of his efforts on behalf of the U.S. Navy, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier was named the USS Carl Vinson, an honor rarely given to a person while living. On March 15, 1980, at age 96, he attended the ships launching.

There certainly are no Democrats like him around today. And actually, no Republicans, either.
The Pueblo is no longer at that location. She’s been moved a few miles from there and put in a dry dock to be their prized trophy against US imperial aggression.
Thank him for his service and let him know we all support him and all who serve.
Im sure Carl Vinson was a very fine man and a patriot; but would my esprit de corps be raised if I could serve on a ship named the Revenge?
An aircraft carrier wasn’t named for him for no good reason. Study up on the man and you’ll see it is well deserved.
Call him Junior

You’re reading too many comic books! There’s just no way we’re walking into anything we can’t handle as regards NK. The biggest problem we would have in any military engagement would be the requirement to massively destroy every piece of weaponry that the Norks have pointed at Seoul. If Seoul were out of range, this thing with NK would have been over already. We simply can’t do anything that would allow Kimmie to attack Seoul, at all!
Used to be called a "Hang fire."
Punish Kim with ridicule.
Another point of fact. No US Navy ship except the USS Constitution sails anywhere.
The carriers “steam” to their destination as the nuclear reactor heats water used in steam turbines
My son is serving aboard the Carl Vinson. He sent me an email telling me not to worry about those missiles. They have them covered.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
May God Bless your son and protect him!
Please thank him for his service during this time of defense of world freedom.
Remember, parents and loved ones of service members:” lose lips sinks ships!”. It’s imperative to keep OPSEC.
In the sweet old country where I come from, it’s where nobody works, and nothing gets done; Hang Fire

well Duh! Wasn't that my point? Concern for S. Korea and Japan primarily, and those 2 pesky satellites.
No question we can kick their ass. But doing it before they can inflict major damage, that's the question.
I too have a son who is sailing aboard the Carl Vinson.
Prayers for their safe return...
I tip my hat to your great knowledge, good sir!
Very few people realize that the Constitution is still on the Navy’s active duty roster””
The USS Constitution is also the ONLY active ship in the navy that has actually engaged and sunk an enemy ship!
