Students in a math class at Riverview High School in Florida are being persecuted for their faith. They are punished for not removing their cross jewelry. They are harassed for not embracing the LGBT agenda pushed on them by their lesbian teacher. But one ninth-grade student is pushing back. Her attorneys filed a demand letter requiring the teacher to cease and desist by close of business Thursday.Cross.jpg - 500
Parents told Liberty Counsel that at least three students were not allowed to wear their cross necklaces. Math teacher Lora Jane Riedas claimed they were gang symbols. When one student asked why, Riedas told her she was disrespectful and she must take her necklace off. The necklace held a crucifix less than an inch long. The student felt she was forced to deny her faith.
Riedas is a member of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Networks Leadership Institute. She engages in blatant LGBT political activism in her classroom. Her classroom is decorated with LGBT insignia and rainbows. She decorated students notebooks in rainbow stickers without their permission. She singled out one student for several false misbehavior claims after the student removed the sticker from her notebook.
Riedas has plans to promote GLSENs Day of Silence Friday. GLSENs guide requires students to take part in political activism. Liberty Counsel stated that students can either go along to get along or risk being outed as disagreeing with the teacher. Students are encouraged to support the LGBT agenda and Day of Silence by not speaking. Those who speak will be required to answer class questions.

There’s a church north of SF where the priest is “married” to another man, and this church is a mainstream Protestant denomination. They have adopted several kids — all boys.
God help those kids.
Get rid of Common Core in Pubic schools , Go after teachers who make students do things that are against their constitutional protections . There is no law that says a student can’t wear a crucifix etc. .
What’s NAMBLA’s new name?
I think you CAN say “Chevy trucks are garbage” at a Chevy dealership, but they have the right to kick you out.
When I went to school 37 years ago, they were pretty good.
What special privileges?
Foot baths, prayer rooms, breaks five times a day to pray, making the entire cafeteria halel, when no one else gets those kind of accommodations.
If they don’t like how the public school is operating, they can homeschool.
The same option thrown in the face of Christians who oppose the Godlessness of the public education system.
But they won’t homeschool because their agenda is to infiltrate and change this nation into an islamic caliphate through the judiciary and litigation and so they do.
OMG! I didn’t realize your address and personal information was available via VoterRecords.com.
Liberty Counsel’s letter makes an excellent case for prosecution of that Homofascist teacher. I hope they win on all of their requests.
Is “coward’s way” an insult or an observation? I think the latter.
We are talking about a public school. Reasonable restrictions apply.
You have to read a little more history on the First Amendment. In Europe there was much the same attitude that you have, that they could restrict people practicing their religion in public. They would say that they were not actually restricting it totally just imposing "reasonable restrictions."
So if you were Catholic you might not be able to wear a rosary, or if you were Baptist you might not be able to read your Bible or if you were Jewish you might not be able to wear your yamaka but it was all "reasonable" because these people were not part of the state religion.
You could still practice in private. Just not in public.
This was why the First Amendment was written. To prevent the government from imposing "reasonable restrictions" that were actually persecution.
And this is exactly what is happening in this case.
> Sorry but equal protection before the law does not mean that you can tell someone they may not practice their religion. <
Agreed! My point (perhaps not very well said) is that if you allow Christian symbols in a public school, you must also allow Muslim symbols. Equal protection. Same set of rules for all. So allow all, or prohibit all? I think the latter choice is better.
As a side point, I never would have made this rather unpopular argument 20 years ago. But I’m seeing the U.S. slide more and more into Balkanization. Public schools - as imperfect as they are - do function as melting pots. And that’s something worth protecting.
Islam is not a religion. It is a political system that utilizes a demonic component.
Because it is incompatible with Western civilization and our Judeo-Christian republic, there will be no peace until every last muslim has been routed from our land. At present, we as a country are nowhere near this point. Hence, the unrest and violence will continue.
Public schools are not called for in the Constitution. They were instituted by progressives and have no place in a free republic. If they are appropriately abolished, there will be no more teachers foisting their sinful beliefs onto other people’s children. See the Alliance for the Separation of School and State’s website.

Restoring our Republic will call for dramatic changes because the nation has drifted so far from its original principles. Do I think we’ve passed the point of that return? Yes. Most people have no clue about our country, the Constitution, and how our Republic is supposed to function, nor are they interested in learning. They prefer some form of socialism. Many are drugged up and dumbed down.
With this in mind, we all do the best we can to live in today’s world, knowing the current system is unsustainable, and praying for our families to be able to face whatever is to come.
Prohibit yarmulkes?
Of course you do. They can ask you to leave, but they can’t limit your first amendment rights.
I don't know where you received your education on the Constitution but you should ask for a refund. Free exercise means just that! NO RESTRICTIONS.
Neither action is religiously neutral in content or consequences for the students.
Either action, ( allowing all or prohibiting all), tramples the free speech, free expression of religious belief, and freedom of assembly of the students who are compelled ( by threat of police action) to be in the school. Either action ( allowing all or prohibiting all) tramples the First Amendment Rights of those who are forced to pay for it.
Fundamentally, all government schooling is a First Amendment abomination.
The solution: Begin the process of privatizing all schooling in this nation. The final goal should be complete separation of school and state.
Any institution where such strictures are necessary is not entitled to compel the attendance, the support, much less the loyalty, of anyone.
> Prohibit yarmulkes? <
That’s a tough one for me, as I am probably the most pro-Jewish non-Jew there is. I have no good answer there.
But I do have an answer (it’s just not very good). We need a constitutional amendment declaring the U.S. to be a Judeo-Christian nation. That wouldn’t mean other religions are prohibited. it would just give those two religions special protection.
Yep, as I said, it’s not a very good solution.
This should never be tolerated and she should be run out of the school and out of a job. She only care about students she can recruit to her pervert cause.
In the absence of a comprehensive body of knowledge uniformly agreed upon across the country, there should not be “public schools.” Let us as a society face the consequences of our lacking epistemic unity.
