In the latest incident of anti-gun hysteria to erupt in a school setting, officials overseeing a school district in Alabama have expelled a 16-year-old girl for an entire year because she had a water gun at school.
Prior to her yearlong expulsion, the student, Sara Allena "Laney" Nichols, attended Prattville High School Prattville, a town of 35,229 just northwest of Montgomery.

Nichols and her mother, Tara Herring, say the teen girl did not bring the water gun to school. Instead, the mother and daughter claim, a male classmate gave Nichols the water gun to Nichols "as a joke."
Nichols put the water gun in her backpack, and then in the backseat of her car.
The trouble started for Nichols on the following Tuesday when a concerned student told officials at Prattville High that she saw Nichols with a gun.
She's a pretty ... and a horrible criminal who obviously intended to massacre dozens with that squirt gun.
She’s better off.
If the parents in this district are fine paying the salaries of the morons who run these schools, then who can criticize them?
Somebody needs to determine who the “concerned student” was? Probably the friend who gave the water gun to her.
Wonder if water balloons would be considered hand grenades?
We have to stop all the killings caused by squirt guns. If we can save the life of just one children.... LOL.
Autauga County school district superintendent, Spence Agee, don’t you like watersports?
Yet another “zero tolerance” outrage perpetrated by our government schools.
It’s a paradox, but “academics” are usually the most rigid, bureaucratic, and stupid people you will ever meet
Come on! This needs to be taken seriously. There’s a pistol grip AND a high-capacity tank - it’s an assault water gun.
There are schools now which have rules even over water-balloons, with suspensions possible. I would be curious what the rule was in this case.
In this case, you could have a mutiny with dozens of students refusing to assemble or take directions from the teachers until she’s brought back on campus. If they did some mass suspension of a dozen kids...it’d just get the principal fired.
Nothing reveals a bad law for what it is as it’s enforcement does.
But an annual tradition was to play 'The Assassination Game' - based on a movie, it involved students carrying toy guns around for weeks. Nobody batted an eye.
This wasn't that long ago at all - 1980s.
What the heck has happened in the last 30 years?
This liberal school even had a rifle range back then...I just can't fathom how quickly things have changed.
Home school her and don’t send her back.
Did they suspend the classmate who allegedly gave her the toy gun?
She’ll probably get just as good an education sitting at home for the next year than she would have gotten in the liberal indoctrination center (IE Public School) anyway....
The last day of school was a squirt gun war when I went in the 70’s.
My have things have changed.
Luckily no one got wet.
Sue the morons...a year suspension is ridiculous.
Make them justify and defend their idiotic rules...
I wonder how the rules and schoool policy define what a “gun” is and isnt...
