This evening, all eyes were on the special election in Georgias Sixth Congressional District as Democrats were hoping to flip the seat that has been held by Republicans for decades. The seat recently opened up after Republican Tom Price left to take over as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Going into the night, Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff was way up in the polls as a number of GOP hopefuls threw their hats into the ring. However, despite the fact that he was polling in the mid-40s, roughly 30 points ahead of his nearest opponent, Ossoff and Democrats knew he needed to get more support in order to gain at least 50% and avoid a runoff.
In the end, Ossoff ended up pulling in less than 50%, with totals showing him at 48.6% after a huge dump of votes came in from Fulton County around midnight, leading to numerous outlets to project this as heading to a runoff.

Remember, there were also five RATS running, including Ossoff, who didn’t even live in the district, along with the 11 Pubbies and 2 Independents.
The 11 Republicans combined for about 50.9% of the vote.
The 5 RATS took 49.0% of the vote.
The 2 Indys got about .1%.
Do the math on what happens in the runoff.
It’s more like 96% of his funding came from *outside* the state of GA.
Osoff also doesn’t live in the district in which he’s running for office.
Don’t know if anyone had said this before, but the Democratic could not get the 50%+1. Hahahahaha.....
(channeling the Governator) I am laughing my Ossoff.
Is there any proof this 30 yr old “ former congressional staffer” used $8 million of his own money?
The majority always wins an election like this. I'm not sure where you get your outrage?
Early evening vote counts had pajama-boi at 64% and the AJC was absolutely giddy. Once the results after Dekalb county started trickling in it was fun to watch that number ratchet down
If it is like Washington State, the Republican party does not decide who runs for office. The individual decides that. Then they declare which party they prefer. Simple as that. And who says all 11 are really Republicans anyway?
So I assume there will be a runoff between the Dim candidate and the Republican candidate with the most votes? Because that is why it was significant that the Dim got less than 50%. The Republicans cumulatively received over 50%, so the Dim should lose. Nice.
Lil Jon underperformed Hillary by about half a percent in the district. The dems are not happy. Regardless of how they spin it.
Fult on county als includes very wealthy (white) suburbs to the north of the city. These have also seen a large influx of economic refugees from the NE and midwest in the last decade.
If the GOP had any brains/imagination, they’d find DINOs to run in ‘Rat primaries.
He had $8M of his own money, and he could not afford a cheap apartment in the district he was running in, but instead had to share one with his girlfriend instead?
Absolutely. It will now be interesting to see if those millions flow back in for pajama-boi now that it's 1:1 and Handel can just hammer away at him.
Only thing is, it WORKED in the presidential race. Trump would NEVER have gotten the nomination if there were only two or three other candidates on the GOP side. Of course Trump capitalized on the situation.
One would have to go first...
I used to like a night out or day out at the movies, but now 2 people is 40 bucks easy.
I can watch the movie on prime in a year most likely for free or a few bucks on a large screen in the house with 3 bucks worth of popcorn and soda, instead of 20 :)
I also walked out on movies after 10 minutes, too often several years ago and that was it!
Good to start the morning off with a white pill. Off to work...
He was a NatSec staffer & aide to Hank “Can Guam Tip Over” Johnson, and who compared Jewish settlers to termites.
I heard TONS of outside money like Hollywood etc.. poured in tons
It was NOT his money, this kid is a 30 year old pussyboi that caught the attention of hollyweird and other demonRATs with cash.
If he had $8 million bucks, I guarantee you, as a demonRAT, he would not blow it on a run off to a short term special House election.
Someone linked this in the comment section at Treehouse on the Osoff story.
I have little doubt of its authenticity.
