This evening, all eyes were on the special election in Georgias Sixth Congressional District as Democrats were hoping to flip the seat that has been held by Republicans for decades. The seat recently opened up after Republican Tom Price left to take over as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Going into the night, Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff was way up in the polls as a number of GOP hopefuls threw their hats into the ring. However, despite the fact that he was polling in the mid-40s, roughly 30 points ahead of his nearest opponent, Ossoff and Democrats knew he needed to get more support in order to gain at least 50% and avoid a runoff.
In the end, Ossoff ended up pulling in less than 50%, with totals showing him at 48.6% after a huge dump of votes came in from Fulton County around midnight, leading to numerous outlets to project this as heading to a runoff.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Yes....MAGA ! :-)
DUmmies thinking this is a great win for the Democrats...big “wake up call” for the R’s.
That’s why they’re called DUmmies.
Eleven candidates, reflecting all the competing flavors of the Republican ice cream store. I suspect this will lead to a win for the Democrat in June. Does anyone know what kind of place Fulton County is? Urban, suburban, or rural?
Which Republican flavor is the woman winner?
Please quit thrashing Republicans. More than likely, nine of the Republican candidates were actually liberals for running just to divide the vote.
Circular firing squad. Did same thing in Pres race too.
P.P. lives in Atlanta, he should know.
Running 11 candidates might have made it harder for Ossoff to get 50%. If some of those 11 were fringe candidates they might have attracted some fringe voters that would otherwise have stayed home. These extra candidates and extra votes would have increased the vote total and would have made it harder for Ossoff to reach 50% +1.
Great quote! Hope Trump tweets about kicking Ossoff ;-)
what the hell are she and the GOP ‘celebrating’? A democrat almost won in a state that has been solidly republican for 40 years

Yes it was! "Time to send another set of pearls to Washington. So lets celebrate and get some sleep and hit the ground running tomorrow so on June 20th we keep the 6th District red and kick a little Ossoff." Lots of Moxie! Hope Trump tweets this on June 20!

That district is in ‘big’ trouble if they are following lying Ryan.
Are you kidding me? I've known Fulton County/Atlanta was heavily urban since I was 11 years old and watching the Cubs on WGN or TBS play the Braves in Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.
I bet the 11 actually helped as 1 on 1 would have given too much early focus. Are Dems really going to spend another 10-15 million in a Republican district? Especially as Ossoff’s character (shacking up with a woman for 12 years) and carpetbagger status (doesn’t live in the district) becomes more widely discussed. Did you lie before, will conservatives, even moderates want him. Besides, on top of it all, something like 95% of his funds also came from outside the district. Those are three facts that should be pretty damning.
This is how low democrats will go. 9 million dollars to create an open exposure of how they will go to any lengths to deceive the public into granting them power. It is about as low as I have seen them go. Where did the $9 million come from? Straight from Nancy Pelosi and company. They are shameless bunch. This act degrades the Constitution and the institutions which have given us 225 years of freedom. Now they deliberately, with malice of forethought proceed to this.
Downside, she doesn’t support 2nd amendment.
Why the hell did the Republicans run 11 candidates? Talk about splitting the vote. They shouldve banded together and knocked this election off.
Too many times its the Republican way.
