Last week Trump supporters and leftist social justice warriors met on the political field of battle in Berkeley, California. Words were exchanged, as were punches. And while an alt-right leader was punched in the face, by all accounts even the social justice warriors admit that they got a major beat-down.
This prompted a reddit discussion among the left’s tolerant resistance movement, with many asking how they can more effectively go to war against anyone who disagrees with their social, political, and economic views.
The anti-Trump protesters at the rally were ill-prepared for what they came to Berkeley to confront and now they are trying to figure out ways to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
In short, as predicted, they are turning to militancy and mob action by mobilizing individuals and groups to attend combat training seminars, acquiring better equipment like baseball bats and helmets, and of course, if things really go bad… guns.
Yes, we seemed to have lost today. The alt-right held their ground. If we wanna take action against them, we need to be better organized and better trained. It doesn’t help that it’s only the far left opposing them, any trump supporter can be radicalized far easier than any liberal.

In addition to the replies you have already received, did you watch any of the footage from the Berkley standoffs?
Our side was forcefully repelling the Antifa street shutdowns, using their bodies & force of will to escort vehicles trying to negotiate public thoroughfares. They were opening holes in the crowd while waving drivers around.
Personally, I got no problem with mowing them down. If the practice of ‘free speech’ involves pretending to be a speed bump, the natural consequences should apply. Sadly, the law frowns upon this.
How can I, or any other law-abiding citizen going about the business of her day, avoid participating in political activity if the participants refuse to let me leave the area? So as a person with a life & job to attend to, I heartily thank the Conservawarriors for keeping the streets open.
If an individual or group won't permit you to leave, and actively impedes your ability to do so, isn't that a crime called "false imprisonment"?

It might be up to a jury to determine whether the action in question was "reasonable" given the circumstances and the frame of mind of the person who acted defensively.

That’s all good & well (maybe) once the case, if there is one, makes its way to court, however many months or years it may take to get there, assuming ability to identify an individual among a crowd known for masking their faces. And recovering what monetary damages from adult kids who reside in Mommy’s basement?

I’ve been encouraging people here for years to read Orwell’s account of his time in that milieu, Homage to Catalonia. It is a quick read and is a great introduction to and first hand account of the Spanish Civil War. Orwell barely escaped with his life, not due to the Nationalists, but at the hands of his Communist allies in the purge you mentioned (he was an ideological socialist fighting with the anarchists). You can see this experience leading directly to his vastly more famous Animal Farm and 1984.
Yet our government insisted on maintaining the myth that the “Loyalists” were the good guys. Movies like “Sahara” and “The Guns of Navarrone” portray the Franquistas as Nazis...
