The most competitive special Congressional election yet has arrived, and we will be providing returns live tonight right here. In addition to our district-wide totals, we will be analyzing county and precinct level returns. For the Democrats, the hope is that Jon Ossoff can pull out an outright win tonight- if he gets over 50% of the vote in this crowded field, hes in as the districts new Representative in Congress. If he falls short, then he will face off against one of four likely Republican opponents in a runoff on June 20th: Karen Handel, Bob Gray, Judson Hill, or Dan Moody. Polls close at 7pm and we anticipate at least early vote tallies to begin rolling in shortly thereafter. Refresh this page for the latest results tonight out of Georgia.
I’m not sure whether this means anything larger for Trump. Trump did not win this area by a big margin. It was rather tiny.
Those not from Georgia or the South might associate Atlanta as “southern.” You would be mostly incorrect. Since WWII, it has been growing at a torrid pace. Metro area growth over 25% per decade every decade since census 1950. Hordes of people from the rust belt have moved down. The southern accent is dwindling in the entire metropolitan area. Needless to say, many of these people like southern weather, but not so much southern values.
Here’s a thought to keep in mind-Atlanta is considered a “gay capital” of America. It was proclaimed the gayest city in America by a leading gay publication. This is celebrated by the city government. It’s population of gay households is double-digit. It has the 3rd biggest gay pride parade in the nation where the city shuts down. It has been called the “San Francisco of the South.”
There are many reasons why in every election the state is red and Fulton county and DeKalb are deep blue.
Republican frontrunner Karen Handel is giving a speech at her camp. About Ossoff and possibility of a runoff, she said:
We have a lot of really hard work ahead of us, and it starts now, but friends well celebrate a little tonight and then we need to consider that it just might be time to send another set of pearls to Washington. So lets celebrate and get some sleep and hit the ground running tomorrow so on June 20th we keep the 6th District red and kick a little Ossoff.
According to Nate Cohn, looks like the more “R” areas.

Scroll up and look at the county maps. What’s left is mostly republican areas.
This is California-tier vote counting.
I’m embarrassed for my state.
Never typed so many texts so furiously for so many hours and enjoyed every moment as much as I did that night.
Our combined family and friends votes covered the states of Ohio, Florida, Texas, Alabama and South Carolina.....what a night!
Been trying to tell folks. It’s over, get some sleep.
Dems failed at their little PR stunt they will lose the runoff.
You make my point better than I did.
Ballot boxes being held back is usually a sign of voter fraud.
:)
I think we need to try to do what we can for her so she gets the win on June 20th...phone calls, money...
An earlier post said that they were having problems updating the numbers with the state but they are not updating the reporters. I think the counting has been over or nearly for quite a while. Based on her recent statement, I think Handel knows the results.
Indeed I did; my bad. Long day out here in the oil patch.
I’m giving it to 12:01 am and then I’m going to bed.
So do i...lol! I still have the texts I sent to family and friends on my phone that night and enjoy re reading all about the win in Pennsylvania and michigan again and again and I enjoy the comments my friends made about that stupid Podesta speech at the Javits center when they kicked out the Sobbing Shrillery voters....pure schadenfreude at its finest....Best Election ever!
The Russians hacked the Fulton County election computer, stole the results, and are now holding them for ransom.

Georgia was very slow in counting votes in the general election, too. But unlike California, Georgia actually counts its votes - California just declares itself for the democrat party candidate the instant the polls close. As one of the few remaining Republicans in California, I may as well just throw my ballot in the ocean instead of mailing it in.
This simply undermines public confidence in the results of elections.
NY Times reporting that 55,000 votes are left to be included in the totals.
Whatever became of Jill Stein’s Detroit recount? It was halted because there were more votes than registered voters, if I recall correctly.
