As the Trump administration expands its aggressive enforcement efforts against those who may have entered this country illegally, John Tsoukaris is responsible for implementing the president's new policies in New Jersey.
Tsoukaris, the Newark Field Office Director for Enforcement and Removal Operations at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, said the administration's executive order that expanded the definition of "criminal aliens" has changed the rules of engagement for his agency.
"The executive order basically expands who we should be arresting," he said during an interview in his 11th floor conference room in the federal building in Newark.

A lot of mexican background gals and guys working on staten island.
The older ones I know were born in Mexico.
The 16 to 18 year olds? Well, we let this stuff go on a long time so they might be “anchor” babies.
My wife is American born from American citizen parents with a father and uncles who served in the miliary, and she speaks Spanish as well as English. Think she should be arrested for speaking Spanish in public? That is a knee-jerk demand that makes this site look bad.
Don’t post things that make it look like we’re violent White Supremacists.
We need only enforce the laws on our books, and that’s all we advocate.
Of course she shouldn’t be arrested for speaking SpNish. But zhe should speak it only when necessary and not when those who don’t understand that language are within earshot.
It’s rude.
Reno89519 is acting like a troll.
Ah, so you are the judge of when she should speak Spanish? I guess the First Amendment only applies to English speakers, in your mind?
“That expansion has led to stories of undocumented immigrants who have long lived and worked in this country now finding themselves facing deportation, including some who have been in this country since early childhood being put onto a plane to a country they do not know.”
So, do any of these “stories” that are supposedly out there somehow floating around in the ether include the fact that those being deported were snagged because they were serious criminals committing serious crimes, or are they just totally fake news, that is, assuming these “stories” even exist, since there is zero who, what, when or where regarding these “stories” in this article?
“Its rude.”
I don’t speak Spanish at all. It may be rude for someone to use the language when they know English - I suppose that’s possible - but don’t Americans have a right to be rude in some sense?
There are no “undocumented immigrants”...Only “illegal aliens”...
If you came to this country ILLEGALLY, you should leave or be sent home...I don’t care if you think you have broken no law, you actually have broken the law every day you’ve been here...
No, the 1st Amendment applies to Americans...Americans speak English when around other Americans...
To be an American requires citizenship...For a foreign national to become an American, they must be able to converse in the English language.

To become a U.S. Citizen, the general rule states that you must speak, read, write, and understand English.
?Como dice el?
Ahora el comentario se suprime.
Para me, no lo se.
>>To become a U.S. Citizen, the general rule states that you must speak, read, write, and understand English.
<<
Yet we produce all government publications, including ballots, in damn near every language there is on Earth.
“...To become a U.S. Citizen, the general rule states that you must speak, read, write, and understand English...”
Commonly called “assimilation”....
That’s so the “illegals” can vote democrat....
What kind of bonehead question is that? She is an American.
I understand signs in Spanish for work visa holders etc, but there is no way in hell a ballot for election should be printed in anything but English...PERIOD
It is a RULE of courtesy to NOT speak in a foreign language when among people who do not understand that language unlesd absolutely necessary.
Evrn then one should apologize too those who do not understand what was said.
Dems da rules, I didn’t make them, I just repeat them.
