For the first time in 12 years I am breaking two traditions for the TCMS. Each year the shoot is held at different locations; although some ranges were visited two or more times, it has never happened in consecutive years. But because my life has been a bit wonky lately I just dont have the energy for the research and recon.
The other broken tradition is the name change. This year we will also honor my co-cat herder, NYTexan, and my beloved husband, Eaker; both of these fine men passed away within days of each other this past March.
Therefore, the shoot will mirror last years shoot. I spoke with the folks at Cherokee Village Resort this afternoon and temporarily reserved the entire place for October 19 ~ 22, 2017. Tomorrow I will call and confirm those dates, then post the final date to make your reservations. When calling to make a reservation, mention that you are with the TexasCowboy group. You will have to make a deposit equal to a one night stay.
The shoot will be held at Hicksville Gun Range, in Gatesville, starting at 10:00 a.m. on the 21st. Where once again we can enjoy the range dogs, the owners and lunch provided by our own cook, cpdiii.
humblegunner has volunteered to make some containers in which to place Eakers ashes, which will be attached to containers of tannerite so that we can all blow Eakers ashes into the wind. It will be an epic send off!
I’d like to think so.
Maybe set the clay jars behind instead of on top..
I’d feel kind of crappy if I missed the Tannerite
and hit the jar.
Seeing that makes my heart sink.
I just need to be East of Yuma AZ.
I lived in Midland TX for 3 yrs.
Stuck in SoCal...for now.
We were so happy to have the two of you! I felt like I had really made 2 new friends then! You were great “roomies”! :)
I know. Makes it much too real. This has been a very hard year so far.
Sure wish you could be with us. It’s been SO long!
Yes, it has.
I was planning to be there this year but we’ll be hunting! Already have the trip planned.
Lesson learned. Next year I’ll check in with TheMom before finalizing our plans.
Please post lots of photos and videos!
I sure plan on it! Probably more than people will want to see...of me with my phone camera in their faces. LOL!
Lol!
The more the better!
That’s going to be so cool!
My hubby and I will be there. Since we live here in Whitney please let me know if there’s anything we can do to help. We also have extra beds at our house (5 minutes from Cherokee) if they fill up. I expect we’ll have an overflow crowd.
My old home town. I remember when it was the jewel of the USA. Now....just yuck. You couldn't pay me to live there again.
I’m sure it’ll all work out just fine, and that Tom will be pleased. You’re doing a good thing, bro.
So look forward to seeing you! I’m sure we’ll think of something by the time it rolls around. I just reserved my cottage. Yay!
I hope we do have an overflow crowd! It’s more fun that way!
Have sent a request to CVR to reserve canyon cottage#2. See you there. God bless.
bump!
I hope the dang thing is level.
MAN I felt bad about that.
Anyway, I'll be packing the ramps.
No problem. This is their handicap cottage. Should be fine.
Thank you. I live up in Wisconsin so not likely. But, I am happy you all get together!
Still packing the ramps.
Might be a roadside monkey petting zoo or something
lacking proper access, one never knows about these things.
If I can get vacation and IF Mrs alfa6 comes along we would probably have to leave on Sat. afternoon or evening as I need to be back in KC late Sun afternoon as I work Monday Day. And because of my goofy schedule I do not want to miss Monday.
If I come down solo I can leave Sunday morning, I think.
If I end up making a solo run I may be needing a bunk for a nite or two.
Will know more about vacation tomorrow.
Till Then...
Regards
