“That alone was worth my vote for Trump.”

Newly confirmed Neil M. Gorsuch is likely to have an immediate impact at the Supreme Court, weighing in as early as next week on whether to consider expanding the breadth of the Second Amendment.
- The Second Amendment already has the strongest protection in the Constitution: “shall not be infringed” is far broader than a mere “Congress shall make no law”.

He could play a decisive role this spring in determining how voting rights should be protected
- Voting rights are part of the rule of law, but in a race-blind manner. The equally critical tandem voting rights questions are: How do you ensure lawful voters can vote, and how do you prevent unlawful voters from voting.

. . . and in a major case on the separation of church and state.
- The constitutional restrictions are on an “establishment of religion” and on “prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. These are far different from and not closely related to a separation of church and state. The active hostility toward religion pushed by the ACLU and by the big government left have restricting the free exercise of religion as one of their central tenets.

Judge Gorsuch will (I pray) merely restore the clear, literal, and original meaning to the Second Amendment and to these other critical protections.

I pray that he will do so indeed.

But I think we need another Justice with integrity. Justice Kennedy has been all to unreliable.

My judgement rests until he has a USSC voting record. Some very poor Supreme Court Justices have come from Republicans.

yes - Gorsuch has potential to be even better than Scalia. Let’s hope Trump
gets 4 more SCOTUS appointees and we can finally return to liberty

It is a gamble on the type justice (or judge) we get when a Republican President appoints one.

No gamble when a Democrat President does the appointment....it is always crappy!

The current Justices are 4 closely grouped way on the left and 4 spread from just to the right to very Conservative (Thomas). On this spectrum, who knows if Gorsuch will be and remain to the Right of Roberts.

Well...if Gorsuch actually votes as a conservative. Roberts didn't. Souter didn't. Kennedy didn't. O'Connor didn't. Brennan didn't. On and on - the SC justices nominated by Democrats undergo rigorous vetting as left-wing judicial activists and they deliver - there is no backsliding, no compromise. Republicans nominate originalists and lovers of the status quo, rather than judges who will fight for conservative principles as vigorously as the left-wing judges fight to overturn every established principle of American society. And the so-called originalists beloved by conservatives have demonstrated time and again that they are not capable of even maintaining the status quo against left-wing radicalism, let alone reversing it. And in many cases - most recently with that coward John Roberts on Obamacare - they will actively abet the liberals.

Excellent!

We shall see. Here's hoping he decides to go down in history as a giant...like Scalia.

“If only he wasn’t in that radical church.”

Oh, man do I ever agree with that sentiment.

The guy’s good a great track record as a jurist, but that church — how can a man of seemingly sterling character remain in that environment on a regular basis and NOT become compromised, or — worse — compromising??

If he’s pulled it off, then he’s a stalwart character, indeed, and we ought fully expect a stellar term of service.
