The man in the Camden, N.J., police video is practically begging to be shot. After using a knife to menace a cashier and a customer in a fast-food restaurant, he strides down a street slashing at the air as police repeatedly order him to drop his weapon. The man keeps walking, defiantly waving the knife.
Several cops form a ring around him and move along at a safe distance, block after block. This goes on for several tense minutes, as the viewer waits for shots to ring out. But they never do. Eventually, the man drops the knife and is collared.
It's a reasonably happy outcome. Had the 2015 incident occurred a year earlier, before the department adopted new tactics, "we would more than likely have deployed deadly force and moved on," Chief J. Scott Thomson told The New York Times. Instead, the offender survived, and no cop had to deal with the trauma of killing him.

From several different knife fighting teachers;
In most cases, its almost a certainty that both you and your adversary will get cut during the knife fight.
The five principles are as follows: Expect to get cut.
expect to leave the fight with a few slashes in your arms / hands.
You dont put on boxing gloves and not expect to get hit, you play with sharp objects you should expect to get cut.
Jerks who make these rules or promote the use of non lethal force when confronted with a very lethal tool like a knife have never seen what happens when someone stabs or pierces someone with a knife or sword. Vests protect against most small arms, they do not protect against knives so in very close combat the knife is more dangerous than a firearm.
Generally these are the same ninnies who make statements like why did not he shoot the arm out of the assailants hand or why did he not disable him by a shot to the arm or some such.
Tasers are great for subduing an unarmed criminal. I would not wish to put anyone enforcing a law in the position of relying on it to sub do someone with a knife.
Camden is cited at the example here. If it was nuked, we would do the world a favor.
My brother when he went mad hunted for a gun which happily had been hidden. Do I wish him dead on account of that? No.
Yep.
If you have ever seen any of those videos put out by various muslims terrorists usually titled “How to stab a X”, those guys know how to use a knife.
They have really theorized and practiced a long time, and they are damn serious about killing a X.
Yay! The bad guy lived. THE COPS ARE HEROES!
Boo! The bad guy died. THE COPS ARE VILLIANS!
What are these people, freakin 2 years old?
So...we can expect Chapman to rush in and save the day now? Or just be another “whorespondent” coward mouthpiece hiding under his desk? Surely, he’ll be the point of the spear now since he knows all about it.
Maybe we should REQUIRE them to shoot. Give idiots a reason to not show a knife or other weapon rather than trying to make it safer to threaten police.
Why all this slavering hatred? Then we wonder why lefties get traction. Stupid!
Knife wielding maniac lives to slash another day!
True. Knives are meant to be felt, not seen. And I would fear a knife fight, even if I also had one, much more than a gun fight. In a knife fight, no matter the outcome, your probably still getting cut.
Last four words are your speculation.
In the self-defense/use of force training the instructor taught us how Troopers defend themselves against an attacker with a knife if they were unarmed. “And if the Trooper is armed and attacked by a guy with a knife; have any of you seen Raiders of the Lost Ark?” Also, "Never shoot to wound, center mass until the threat no longer exist."
And if the POS suddenly runs toward a citizen and threatens him/her? Too late then for the cops to stop him. Bringing him down after all those obvious threats is the only option.
Yeah... Circular firing squad, anyone
That scene was supposed to be a swordfight but Ford was sick. If you look at him in the shot he looks terrible. That scene was easier on him
He would have to learn to hold a knife with his feet, and probably would.
Gezezz how stupid is this author? Someone send this dunce a memo: “Not all incidents are the same, stupid”.
Yes.
