Sanctuary City Mayor: Trump Trying to Make Us ‘Fugitive Slave Catchers’
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 04/02/2017 7:42:58 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

An Al Sharpton guest has the early lead for today’s most simultaneously inflammatory and nonsensical statement.

Ras Baraka, mayor of Newark, NJ, said that in clamping down on sanctuary cities such as his, the Trump administration is “trying to intimidate us into being what I’ve called fugitive slave catchers.”

No, he is making you obey the law or lose federal funds for a lot of your faves.

Disobeying the law to get free stuff seems to be a pattern, huh?

Ahhhhh. Interesting choice of words.

A large number of women are brought to this country by sex traffickers. A large number of "immigrants" are brought here to work in the marijuana groves in Northern California.

This deserves some looking into.

Thanks for bringing it up, Ras.

The contradictions of the left are startling.

They want higher minimum wage, yet they (and some GOP’ers) want illegal alien workers who are paid less than Americans.

At least demonicRATS are consistent in one area. Always looking to perpetuate slavery.

The so called civil rights leaders, like Al Sharptongue and Jesse Jerkson are still trying to ignite the race war the big O tried to start all his years in office.

LOL That was my first reaction too. Well the Democrats know a thing or two about being slave masters and keeping people enslaved, don’t they?

Ras Baraka should be given a free overnight flight to Gitmo.

It is interesting how so many of the sanctuary cities are already places with high rates of violent crime and now we have mayors, congressional reps and community leaders openly telling people it is acceptable to ignore laws you don't like.

Nothing good can come from this.

(I'm gonna make a list of laws I don't like- EPA and IRS at at the top)

SANCTUARY CITIES ARE A VIOLATION OF EXISTING FEDERAL LAW

The 1996 immigration law ("Illegal Immigration Reform Act of 1996") specifically requires local officials and governments
to fully cooperate with the federal government on issues regarding illegal aliens.

A state or local government entity or official may not prohibit, or in any way restrict, any government entity or official from sending to, or receiving from, the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual.”

Title VIII, U.S. Code section 1373.

Failure or refusal of local governments and officials to cooperate fully is a violation of the law.

It is time for the US Attorney General to bring charges against local officials who are violating this law.

BONUS FACT! This Act was signed into law by Bill Clinton.

I can actually understand this guy’s dilemma. He’s the mayor of a city that has been importing a Hispanic population to displace its useless permanent black underclass that has been an anchor around the city’s neck for decades. The irony is that he may be one of the last black mayors the city ever has.

“Sanctuary City Mayor: Trump Trying to Make Us ‘Fugitive Slave Catchers’”

If illegal aliens are the equivalent of slaves, then people and organizations encouraging their importation, and profiting from their being here, must be “slave traders.”

Great point!

But you are using logic. Baraka wins with his base just by flinging around inflammatory statements like this.
