Bozell: Failure to Repeal Obamacare 'Absolute Suicide for the Republican Party'
CNS News ^ | march 31, 2017 | Susan Jones

"It is absolute suicide for the Republican Party to follow the course that they're embarking on right now," L. Brent Bozell III, the chairman of For America, told a conference call.

"All the studies show that premiums are going to go up. The Republican Party will own health care -- Paul Ryan and the Republican leadership in the Senate will own Obamacare, and national health care after this -- if they go down this road.”

Bozell said Republicans “could well lose the House and Senate in 2018” if they don’t rethink what they’re doing. “It will be a rout against Republicans.”

Sign something that doesn’t pass? I wish it were that easy. How many Congressmen and Senators (and we can only lose 2 votes in the Senate) are going to vote on a repeal, when they already know they may never agree on a replacement, especially once some of them get the repeal they most want? Trump ran on “repeal and replace” after all, as did many of the members of Congress. The president never over the course of a year and half of campaigning said he wanted to just repeal it. I seriously doubt they will ever repeal it unless the repeal is attached to a consensus replacement bill.

Under my plan, the federal government decides how much it will pay if you chose to buy based on what you are buying, not what you must buy or what insurers must sell.

No coverage mandates or coercive “taxation” are big steps towards freedom.

You can buy coverage off the exchange - no federal subsidies though.

Yes, guaranteed health insurance will raise premiums. The real question is what percent of people in America can qualify for individual health insurance major medical policies? I submit over 40% of America is uninsurable.

I agree. They have been getting Obamacare as has every foreign student here. All of the Muslims from Somalia are being covered.

Most of them.

I submit over 40% of America is uninsurable.

The High Risk Pool patients generally comprise 1% of the insured population, but who would have consumed 50% of the claims....doubling premium for otherwise healthy people.

You do realize that we are only talking about the "individual market" (self-employed, farmers etc).

Employer provided coverages have guaranteed issue, as they assume if you're healthy enough to work, you're healthy enough to insure.

Yes, many will qualify/have group insurance from their employer. I used to set up IRS Section 125 cafeteria plans plus much more. I would think those who can qualify for individual should be able to. The market should be open. This entire bill needs to be thought out like we are discussing.

Yeah, after a lifetime of never missing an election, I purposely sat out the congressional portion of the 2016 election. Congress exists for the reelection of its members. Eff ‘em all.

I believe Trump is being lied to by LYIN RYAN, Rience, and Pence is wrapped up in this too!! Then if you add advice coming from Ivanka and Jared WE ARE SCREWED!!! LYIN RYAN did not hold the vote BECAUSE there were MANY MORE than just the HFC voting NO on this bill, HOWEVER Ryan went to Trump and laid the defeat squarely on the HFC which made ALL of the GOP-e very happy!!! By not holding the vote LYIN RYAN also kept Trump from finding out just how incompetent he REALLY IS as the speaker!!! RYAN is a BACKSTABBING SNAKE!!! I hope Trump WAKES UP!!! This same EXACT scenario will take place with the tax bill and funding for the wall MARK MY WORDS!!! LYIN RYAN’s main function right now is to make sure Trump does NOT succeed, these BASTARDS could not stop him from winning so this IS plan B !!!

The HFC, along with the rest of the GOP, elected Ryan to be Speaker twice. The GOP House members must reach a consensus on the issues. Otherwise, Trump will be humiliated again and again. His only other alternative is to broker deals with the Dems.

Let's face it. The GOPe and the conservatives did not want Trump period. Ryan and Cruz agreed on that. They may be intentionally screwing Trump.

Lyin Ryan throwing Trump under the bus, on healthcare bill....

Paul takes NO responsibility for the stink bomb bill - that only had 17% approval - that he tried to toss at Trump/GOP conservatives.

Next year, Medicaid will be the only insurance you can buy on the Obamacare exchanges. You can do that without the exchanges.
