Build the wall where you can.

Pikes on the North shore of the river will do just fine.

The border fence doesn’t have to be on the actual border. In fact, it is better if it is a little bit on our side so that Mexico has no say about it, we have full access for repairs and that anyone touching is already in the US illegally and can be dealt with.

"The Rio Grande, what side of the river are you going to put the wall? We're not going to put it on our side and cede the river to Mexico.

The people of the USA want that wall so build and quit making excuses. Trump needs to fire him.

The Rio Grande is ditch with fetid dirty water in it. Barely a creek in most places.

The Rio Grande is ours, bought and paid for with the lives of American soldiers. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, ending the Mexican-American War, 1848, gave the United States ownership of the Rio Grande as a boundary for Texas, and also, ownership of California and a large area comprising roughly half of New Mexico, most of Arizona, Nevada, and Utah, and parts of Wyoming and Colorado.

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is correct. We’re not going to give ownership of the Rio Grande to Mexico. It’s ours and we’re keeping it.

Native to the mountains of North Carolina, I don’t understand the importance of the Rio Grande other than its being a major pipeline for foreign illegals and heroin, both of which are killing people here. I voted for the wall ... BUILD THE WALL.

The Wall will never be built, put the Hopium Pipe down and get over it.

If you think for one second we are going to end the war on drugs by putting up a wall and winning, you are just plain stupid. 2 out o3 Government Jobs across this country depend on the War on Drugs for their Jobs and Lively hood. Police, Fire, Judges, Lawyers, Prisons, guards, Probation, Parole,... the list is endless.

Also, if you think for one second we are going to just dismantle the Police State we have spent 45 years creating, you too are just plain stupid.

We need the War on Drugs more than anything you could ever imagine, and there is NO WAY IN HELL we will put up a Wall and WIN!!!

So question.....is this the time to talk about President Polk and the nonsense that California was actually Mexico's to sell?

Whether the Spanish claimed it legally or illegally in the 1500’s, Mexico threw them out in 1821. Then sold it to us in 1848. Mexico if it had a legitimate claim to California only possessed it 27 years.

Many of the Mexicans in Texas and California territory had reached out to the U.S. for protection from their own government from Indians and other ruthless Mexicans.

Was it there's to sell? Did they obtain it legally ? Didn't the Mexican citizens that lived in those territories ask for protection?

The versions of facts on this subject vary in different books and even here on FR. Does anyone know what was Fake News surrounding the Treaty of Hildago or truth on who stole what ?

The Rio Grande is only part of the border, specifically, it is the border between Texas and Mexico. That leaves New Mexico, Arizona, and California with dry land as a border. No reason to not get started in these three states.

Do whatever it takes...

https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Proclamation_758
“... Now, therefore, I, Theodore Roosevelt, President of the United States, do hereby declare, proclaim and make known that there are hereby reserved from entry, settlement or other form of appropriation under the public land laws and set apart as a public reservation, all public lands within sixty feet of the international boundary between the United States and the Republic of Mexico, within the State of California and the Territories of Arizona and New Mexico...”

Lots of public land back in 1907. I imagine any sales since then reserved this easement. Though maybe they didn’t.

Build the whole thing on the Mexican side and annex the territory plus enough buffer zone for a thick minefield.

Arrange buildings at checkpoints so they spell out “GO AWAY” when viewed from space.

Building a wall doesn’t cede what’s on the other side of it.

There have been “committee” meetings since 11/07/16 at various local watering holes around here to formulate a plan for this project. After much consideration and debate, the consensus is that for the Texas portion of the border there should be two walls. In essence, a double wall stretching from El Paso to the Gulf of Mexico. Upon completion the space between the walls would be converted into a moat and stocked with piranhas. The big problem yet to be solved is what to do about Lake Amistad . . . it’s great fishing lake.

"We're not going to put it on our side and cede the river to Mexico. And we're probably not going to put it in the middle of the river."
And we all know Mexico is not going to put it on their side... So don't build it at all?

Who sold this Montana sportman that fish?

Cede? Are we really going to continue to "cede" the entire SW USA to the invasion of illegals so as to not "cede" the Rio Grand River?

Cede? Does this guy actually think its Americans now using that river to illegally cross into Mexico rather than Mexicans monopolizing that river to cross and smuggle into the US?

Well, if we can’t fence along the river, how about machine gun nests every 200 yards?

I think we should build the wall a mile or two south of the river.

Say we are taking it in payment for their being a pain and violating our border.

We were talking about that last night. Would love to see a wall put into the middle of the "international waters".

Then maybe we could get back to fishing the Rio and Amistad without Mexico trying to rob you or shooting at you.
