The owner of the Olive Garden is making a cheesy acquisition. And investors love it.
Darden Restaurants announced late Monday that it was buying Cheddars Scratch Kitchen, a casual dining chain with 165 restaurants in 28 states, for $780 million cash. The company also announced earnings and sales that topped forecasts.
Man, I HATE to hear this news, The Cheddars near us is fantastic. I’ve never had anything there that wasn’t good, and it is CHEAP!
Hands down, it’s the best “value” of any place in Louisville. It’s not high end eating, by any stretch. But, the food is good, quick, hot and cheap.
Darren’s will add corporate overhead that will DEMAND price increases. And, they’ll likely look for ways to cut cost, which will kill the quality. Double whammy. That chain is heading downhill.
The small army of MBA’s will be relentless in looking for ways to increase profitability, resulting in cutting corners until customers protest. That’s how the bacon in a McDonald’s breakfast biscuit ended up so thin you can see through it.
My opinion as well. The biggest issue I have with the entree's is it doesn't taste fresh. I'd guess the pasta is frozen and the sauces come in plastic bags. Nothing more than heat-n-eat in their kitchen.
