The owner of the Olive Garden is making a cheesy acquisition. And investors love it.
Darden Restaurants announced late Monday that it was buying Cheddars Scratch Kitchen, a casual dining chain with 165 restaurants in 28 states, for $780 million cash. The company also announced earnings and sales that topped forecasts.
Rats! There goes a good place to eat.
Not necessarily..........they may have ‘never-ending Mac ‘N Cheese’ now!...............
Olive Garden is crap food
I’ve never liked Olive Garden. It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. But it’s all about taste.
I agree, although I have limited information to form my opinion. It only took going there once for me, never have gone again...I call it Olive Garlic, everything is loaded with garlic, not my favorite thing.
I have always found Olive Garden Restaurants to be preferred over hospital food, but it is close.
I ate at OG once in the past 10 years. It was awful. Have heard good things about Cheddars. Hope this doesn’t ruin it.
Took my kids many times to Olive Garden 30 years ago. Nice menu, big salad bar and reasonable.
It’s supposed to be Italian, but I don’t recognize anything when they bring it to your table.....................
I have never been impressed with Cheddar’s.... not with the menu selection and not with the food.
So, I don’t really understand why it’s the most popular restaurant in my town. I think it’s because of the cheap prices.
Cheap or not, I won’t go there. The food’s not any good!!
Choose between that and starving...............still close.................
Today’s OG is none of those....................
Cheddars opened a restaurant locally and it has been packed from day 1. Let’s hope this sale doesn’t screw it up.
A few years ago Darden was close to going kaput.
Cheddar’s reminds me of a cut-rate Cheesecake Factory.
Want to trip up a waiter/waitress at McItaly? Ask them for some garlic. I tried that once because the food had no flavor. I was told that they didn’t have any. The waiter said that the food arrived pre made and stored in bags. The “cooks” basically nuked or boiled the meals.
Nonsense!
I challenge you to a blind taste test. I doubt you'll be able to ever tell the difference. Heck, I'll even the odds and let the hospital food sit out for 12 hours before comparing. I bet you still won't be able to tell the difference between the two.
If you need a quick reasonably priced lunch and you’ve got a big appetite, their soup and salad special is far superior to fast food and not all that bad. Unlimited garlic breadsticks, unlimited salad, unlimited soup, two kinds, Pasta Fagioli or Zuppa Toscana. The rest of their food is too formulaic and institutional for the price. The lunch special soup and salad is really the only thing I ever get there.
Crap chain buys crap chain. They fit perfectly.
