The Civil War is Here
Frontpage ^ | March 27, 2017 | Daniel Greenfield

A civil war has begun.

This civil war is very different than the last one. There are no cannons or cavalry charges. The left doesn’t want to secede. It wants to rule. Political conflicts become civil wars when one side refuses to accept the existing authority. The left has rejected all forms of authority that it doesn’t control.

The left has rejected the outcome of the last two presidential elections won by Republicans. It has rejected the judicial authority of the Supreme Court when it decisions don’t accord with its agenda. It rejects the legislative authority of Congress when it is not dominated by the left.

It rejected the Constitution so long ago that it hardly bears mentioning.

“Little to no discussion on whether there is a constitutional authority problem. Just accept the premise that the federal government needs to be involved and go from there.”
Thank you! I’ve been saying that for years now.

Too many think that the timeless battle between good and evil is some kind of civil war over economics or culture.

It’s the timeless battle between good and evil.

Look at the personal actions of the leaders, not what they say.

Yes, there’s civil war in America. And one side is losing badly.

But it is still frustrating to realize that the Fed floated the ENTIRE 0bama regime for 8 years borrowing money from people who haven’t even been born yet to pay for it but now that there is some semblance of fiscal responsibility on the horizon they are already punishing the Trump presidency by raising rates. So there, in a nutshell, is where we are at. Eight years of feasting off the future with profligate, irresponsible spending on corrupt “social programs” followed by eight years of a poor attempt at fiscal responsibility to try to pay for the prior eight years of mismanagement. And the Rats and the BSM all the while cheering the corrosive result. And our side can’t even make the simple argument that “giving” ANY resource, much less “healthcare”, to the poor on demand is simply a silly proposition.

Here’s the problem. Repubs have an equal amount of non-budging folks on the moderate side. You watch, the minute we get down to nitty-gritty on tax cuts, MCain and his ilk we walk because there aren’t significant cuts in the budget to pay for it. Trump will state the economy will grow and that will pay for it. That won’t be enough for those particular ideologues. They will kill it.

Politics is the art of the possible. It’s not “I get 100%of what I want or I walk. Conservatives understood this in the time of Reagan. We don’t now. Meanwhile the dems, who don’t care about policy, they care about power, continue to win and incrementally strip our rights and move us towards socialism.

Civil War? Hahh. Real internal war is coming. it will come from within. It will take 100 years to develop, and it will be between those who want Sharia Law, and those who will fight to keep it from happening.

Your argument boils down to "If the Constitution doesn't specifically mention it

No that is your argument, I was just pointing that out to you.

Having a couple of beers at a local brewery in Baton Rouge this past weekend with my brother in law who is an actor...mostly small plays around the country. Liberal down to the bone marrow.

Tries to bait me into a political conversation. Of course, I played him. He believes we have common ground. I would say something just to extract information from him, the progressive side of things you see.

Wow! Just wow. Folks, there will never ever be an opportunity to change a liberals mind. Ain't gonna happen. In my mind, keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer...and this is exactly what I accomplished this last weekend.

Civil war? How bout a not-so-civil, civil war.

Personally, I don’t see any difference between a Totalitarian System and a Democratic System. Leaving things to the Whims of the People is as bad as leaving them to the Whims of the Dictator or the Party.

Now a conflict between a Republic and a Totalitarian System, I can understand and get behind.

Unfortunately, the Constitution left loopholes that Congress and the bureaucracy can use to justify just about anything they want to do, from the Interstate Commerce clause to turning Section 8, Article 18 inside out.
They see only the “To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper...” part of Article 18, and miss the rest “...for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.” which properly limits the whole thing.
That and the words “General Welfare” in Section 8, Article 1, have been interpreted to give the Federal Government pretty much absolute power.
Those things combined with the twisted minds of lawyers (who manage to turn the 2nd Amendment inside out!) have led us to the current straights.

The mandate is unconstitutional, but we have 4 activists + 1 coward who saved it. Until Darth Bader keels over, there’s not much we can do about that.

Yes, there are many layers to this. There’s a lot of infighting here too about the best way to try and dismantle Obamacare and the authoritarian state that the left has created. I myself go back and forth between trying to fight it within the lines and just preparing myself for the fallout for when the social compact officially fractures.

But, our arguments over short-term strategies notwithstanding, I don’t see any long-term political solution with the left. We’re 2 different countries trying to co-exist under old political boundaries, which could work to some degree if the left would try to leave different peoples in different states alone. But, as Greenfield points out, they are an authoritarian movement that will accept nothing short of full political surrender.

We have nothing in common with these people anymore besides language (to an ever decreasing extent) and some leisure activities (who cares?). I hope Calexist is successful. Actually, I kind of hope for a full dissolution of the union so that like-minded states can create their own unions - or go it alone. I don’t know that I ever see the left accepting this solution either, however, which means we’ll probably have to start shooting them, at some point.

i agree and we must understand how to defend ourselves when we assemble. I think we all need educations in creating hollow squares formations when attacked.

Right. We are in a war and they will be ruthless and destroy us if allowed to. It is us or them.

Words have meanings. And no, not everyone knows we aren’t a direct democracy. If this nation even exists in 100 years progressives will still be screaming “Hillary won the popular vote.”

I was speaking from a third party observers perspective, which in most cases are superior, unbiased and not emotionally involved. I was removed from the exchange, not associated with either of you. And I would think it’s a safe bet your constructive criticism alleging the other poster was “thinned skinned” is simply projection.

Take care.

The real place where boomers really jumped the rails culture wise was sex.....for one reason

The pill

I take issue with this point. It is incomplete. It was not just the pill but a couple of other things as well.

World War II created a female rich environment in the US, and this led to promiscuity being embraced by the women of the time to give them better odds to snag one of men remaining in the nation.

Also the development of antibiotics which were shown to be able to cure some serious STDS helped to reassure the promiscuous.

But the main thing was the death of men, followed by the pill.

We’re just one mag dump away from a shooting civil war.

Concur. Certain vehicular equipment enhancements are in process for a couple of the family vehicles are never without both an appropriate longgun and a spare, easy with my and her pickup trucks, less so with our motorbikes and her aircraft. And a couple of heavier than usual support weapons are in process of being obtained, plus ammo and support equipment for them.

Besides ourselves and a neighbor to one direction of our location and another to a different azimuth, we have a right-now TO&E and Order of Battle of four effectives. It is our intention to increase that number by two this FY, beginning around 04 July weekend, bringing the number of Useful Eaters to six, and then doubling that number next year. Unless things simmer down considerably, which appears doubtful. Right now, commo and medics are our shortfall critical skills. transportation and light weaps are okay, for right now, at least.
