Women Wore ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Robes To The Texas Senate Floor
Huffington Post ^ | 3/20/17 | Catherine Pearson

On Monday, the Texas Senate considered several abortion-related bills, including Senate Bill 415, a bill that would effectively ban a safe and common procedure used for second trimester abortions, which anti-choice legislators have taken to calling a “dismemberment abortion ban.” It passed and will now head to the House.

The Senate also inched forward with Senate Bill 25 ― the bill that would effectively allow doctors to lie to pregnant women if they detect a fetal anomaly and are concerned their patient might have an abortion ― and that will head for a final vote on the floor soon.

But in the Senate chambers on Monday, a group of Texas women were having none of it.

Activists headed to the Texas Senate chambers decked out in full red robes, in homage to characters in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Margaret Atwood’s classic (and suddenly distressingly relevant) feminist tome.

Starting to get sick and tired of Hulu politicizing this new series Handmaid's Tale, where according to producers and cast, women in the United States are now oppressed.

I defy the readers of that book to EVERY show me one time in history where women have been treated like they are in that book in a Christian society. They can’t.

The author of that book confused Islam with Christianity.

Even so the book is FICTION - Fiction means it isn’t real.

A glimpse into the thinking of the little Robespierres who call themselves the "left":

Unless the government is paying for abortions and abortifacient medications, then Handmaid's Tale is what is happening for all practical purposes.

I would further observe that people on the left in fact desire to lose control, to lose free will. They are voluptularies for coercion, even while they disclaim it. This is part of the reason that they hate God, or reconcile their innate spiritual longing with God-hatred by bending religion toward worldly, sociopolitical purposes.

“Even so the book is FICTION - Fiction means it isn’t real.”

Reality and the “feminist tome” are mutually exclusive concepts!!!

Roe verses Wade was an abomination against true constitutional law. Five black robed justices decided a “right to privacy” gave a right to abortion.

The right of life and death is a state level function. Some states exact the death penalty for certain crimes and others do not for any crimes. This is the absolute right of each and individual state. If you take the right to abortion as a function of right to privacy I would have the right to kill my wife or she kill me in the privacy of our home. This is insane logic as was the decision of Roe verses Wade.

I abhor abortion but at the same time know these decisions of law are the perv u of the states and not the Federal Government. When the Supreme Court rips the constitution asunder no one has constitutional rights as we at that time are but serfs to the Federal State.

I guess these idiot women didn’t read the book or see the original movie-in both, the young women were rounded up, taken away from their husbands if married, given to some leader called a “commander”-old enough to be their grandfather, then forced into sex with him and impregnated-and if born healthy, their kid was given to the commander’s legal wife-if it was defective, it was killed...

I’m pretty sure there is nothing like that being proposed by the Texas senate-those women are jumping the shark...

Considering that book was written in 1985 and how drastic things have changed since then (when even then it was hysterical fear-mongering of the Religious Right), I think this is incredibly stupid.

What do they have to freak out about anymore? They culture has shifted so far to the left that it’s a joke, because Christianity isn’t outright banned yet?

If feminism was a movement genuinely dedicated to the female and not the abomination the 60's gave us, it would celebrate woman's unique gift to conceive and nurture life.

The real power women have by virtue of their fertility is to shape generations of humankind.

There is no “right” to ever kill human beings in the USA unless they have been stripped of their Constitutional God-given Natural Rights by a court of law with a jury of their peers.

Majority (democracy) “votes” can NEVER strip away Natural Rights that come from the Creator—EVER. Majority “votes” of a state, can’t make sodomy into a “virtue” which ignores reason and logic (can’t be removed from a Just Law)-—and pretend two males sodomizing each other is “Good” and a “Marriage” which is totally insane and forcing satanism or paganism or hedonism into our “Virtue” System which makes it into a Vice System. It is as insane as killing ones own genetic offspring.

The Marxists are making Words meaningless and destroying Language so they can literally destroy the Constitution and make slavery into freedom and Vice into Virtue. It is ALL unconstitutional and evil.

A “Just Law” can NEVER promote vice, theft, etc., and behaviors which are evil-—it will no longer be a “just” law since Justice is the Queen of Virtue as outlined by Christianity and Natural Law Theory-—the basis of American Law and Common Law and Common Sense.

We are a constitutional Republic—never a democracy which is tyranny of the majority—and we can NEVER strip a human being of a Natural Right from God, which predates all government.

Just goes to show you all that these people don’t really have real jobs like the rest of us.........they have too much time to fool around and blab thinking up all this horse shit to do.
Let them have a real job and try this histrionic behavior and farting around wearing costumes and crap.

“Handmaid’s Tale” was one of the most moronic books of the last 50 years. Ironically, the people who most closely conform to her notion of “breeders” are people who supply children, or genetic material, to or for homosexuals.

"What’s the handmaid’s tale ???"

A novel during the Reagan years that predicted a dystopia in which women would be forced to be involuntary breeders for fascist Christian theocrats.
