Pets and the time change
Vanity | 3/14/17 | Dallasbiff

I hate these "spring forward" time changes, always have, not only is my time clock messed up, so is my dog's.

I know it sounds super anal retentive, but my dog still expects to be fed at 3:00 PM, instead of now 4:00 PM.

Yeah my cat didn’t give me an extra hour. It’s still a 4:00 AM wake up call!

Pets don’t care about the big hand or the little hand.
Most of us with pets stick to the same feeding schedule non dependent on a clock

My two dogs as well.

They will adjust eventually but they do not understand why it is dark in the morning when they used to get up to sun. Or why it is light when they retire to bedroom when it used to dark.

They will survive. Besides, a lot of the sun change is just normal nature.

But dogs seem a tad confused, yes they do.

Mine were more cooperative. They didn’t move until I moved. They must trigger on people actions rather than time.

My dog revolves it’s life around me. Doesn’t care it I wake up an hour before sunrise or an hour after. That is when the day starts!

I have 3 German Shepards. Same issue. Their clock is actually within plus or minus 10 minutes for meal time.

My cats aren’t on daylight savings time, either. lol I think of all the starving and homeless cats in the world. Then I look at mine. Fat, demanding, jealous of each other, etc. I try to tell them all the time how lucky they are, but they don’t listen.

Cat often sleeps upstairs most of the afternoon, but would come down right at 5 p.m. Yesterday it was 6. On the bright side, he’s not jumping on me to go out until an hour closer to the alarm going off for me.

It is long past its time. Consider my children. When I go to wake them for school (my 4, 6, 10, 11 year olds) at 730 am, their bodies tell them it is 630.

Then try getting my 4 year old to bed at 830, that is really now 730.

I went out yesterday morning at 4:30 and my horses were still sleeping. I freaked out because if you have ever seen a dead horse and a horse sleeping it is tough to tell the 2 apart until you whistle.

Both our pets usually sleep in. We’re all retired.

My horse used to be messed up for about 2 weeks every time there was a change from EST to DST or vice versa. She either still thought there was another hour until I would be getting home so she was out in the field & looking surprised when I drove up or it was just the opposite - I was an hour LATE and she would be at the fence WAITING impatiently (pawing & nickering when she saw me) for her dinner. She was a sweet old girl - I miss her (she made it to 29).

Your dog's clock is not messed up.

Humans who think that mechanical measuring devises are reality, they are the ones who are messed up.

Hey look, I lost ten pounds by adjusting my scale!
