Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has withdrawn retired senior diplomat Anne W. Patterson as his choice for undersecretary for policy after the White House indicated unwillingness to fight what it said would be a battle for Senate confirmation.
U.S. officials said that two members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sens. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), were strongly opposed to Patterson

Good.
Shakes my confidence in him to the core.
Can’t figure this one out.
Stupid choice. In fact this is the second time he’s had someone rejected.
Even the Egyptian people knew the truth.
Patterson should have been fired on Day One, much less considered for retention in the Dept of Defense.
Good.
Choosing her in the first place makes me question Mattis.
Work needs to go ASAP.
She was a moozlum-brotherhood-loving freak who apparently loves Clown Dunce nobama. Good riddance.
Mattis is the best general but that does not necessarily make him the best executive. At the start of Trump administration I bet it wrong that Mattis would do the first draining. It turns out to be Rex tillerson. You always need to watch those who are quiet and low profile
Might have ben a personal thing. Sometimes these folks have relationships/owe favors/have ties that go deeper than what we can see from the outside. Like when Sarah Palin backed McCain’s senatorial re-election; personal relationship.
But the good news - or so it seems - is that Patterson is out.
Of course, just because she served Obama does not automatically mean she is a POS... but it does give off an aroma!
BOOM! Hope Mr tough talk learned a lesson. And why did he consider her in the first place? Because he might be an ok general at the tactical level. But at the policy setting level he is just another neocon who believes in Palestine as a nation, removing Assad to create a sunni state, fighting Houthi rebels for Saudi Arabia in Yemen, and that Islam itself isn’t evil.
But “plan to kill everyone you meet”, “i didn’t bring artillery”,, etc ad nauseum.
Far better than the Secdef we had, but still neocon. And I haven’t seen him pull women out of the USMC infantry yet and I bet he won’t. But for some reason people think he’s conservative.
Seems to me Trump and the Trump team listen.
While I don’t think this person should have been nominated in the first place (there’s just too many people out there without checkered pasts), at least they listened.
I appreciate that.
Maybe you ought to ask him to resign too. Or how about have him arrested?
Jesus the right are the most fickle group of people. I swear half of the people here would disown their mom for making a left hand turn.
good news - see photos #6

But it was primarily her service in Egypt, as the public face of Obamas support for the Muslim Brotherhood-backed government of then-President Mohamed Morsi, that led to her rejection by the White House, officials said.
Good decision, but have great concern she was being considered in the first place. Makes me question what the hell is going on.
Good move. Now, what to do with the doubts about Mattis’ judgement that many of us now have due to her nomination in the first place?
"I'm never afraid of anyone who goes by the nickname 'Mad Dog.' I've learned over the years that someone like that is more likely to be a p#ssy than a tough guy."
Like I said ... the guy is a wacky liberal but I couldn't help laughing at that one.
