President Trumps newly installed agency heads are starting to take a lead role unraveling a web of Obama-era regulations, acting alongside congressional Republicans and the president himself to roll back rules they claim hurt business or simply go too far.
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke was the latest to peel back red tape.
On his first day of work, for which he arrived Teddy Roosevelt-style on horseback, Zinke ended a ban on lead bullets and fishing tackle on federal lands and water. The ban was imposed to protect animals from lead poisoning, but had been criticized by the National Rifle Association as an attack on gun owners.
Zinke said in a statement he determined the original order was not mandated by any existing statutory or regulatory requirement. The NRA thanked the new secretary for eliminating this arbitrary attack.

Nice!
How about rolling back the order allowing 15 other agencies to share Fisa info?
Take the initiative! That’s the spirit!
“Obama era heads already rolling”
Fixed it .
Kind of like Obama’s EPA issuing regulations for anything that came to anybody’s mind.
Absolutely, and it was specifically the NSA that could share personal global communications with 16 other agencies.
Conservatives should remember the important lesson that the POTUS is the leader, but his subordinates do much of the “heavy lifting”. That is, if they are *not* “status quo” types who don’t want to make waves, just increase their budgets.
So we need to keep a scorecard of which cabinet secretaries and agency heads are getting to work, which are *really* getting to work, and if any are slacking off.
Yes, it is a competition. Every one of them has a chance to score, and every one of them is expected to at least advance the ball.
Great! The promise of roll backs on insane and oppressive regulations is a large part of the stock market’s recent record smashing rallies.
Let’s see - the animal is shot dead, but might die from lead poisoning? WTF?
Good. That means that they are competent.
If he had to tell what to do then he wouldn’t need them.
Exactly...And being competent in nominating good people for his advisers and Cabinet is one thing that separates President Trump from 0bama.
And while they are at it, the overzealous TSA super patdowns.
I sure would like “real” pressure treated wood again.
Bald eagles tend to eat a lot of waterfowl; waterfowl like ducks dive or dabble in the muck at the bottom of bogs to filter food through their beaks. In areas where there is a lot of duck hunting there can be a fair amount of lead shot in the muck that ducks ingest as they hunt for snails and other invertebrates.
Most of it probably ends up in the crops of the birds like gravel does, where the muscles of the crop/gizzard use it as grit to grind the seeds and critters ducks eat.
But since lead is toxic it can make the ducks sickly and easier to catch, or kill them in large enough doses... but I suspect a single duck probably doesn’t run across that much in their short life. But even if it doesn’t, because maybe a duck only consumes a few pellets, they’re still “loaded” so to speak.
So an eagle eats the ducks in finds or catches, and in the process consumes the gizzard, along with the lead bits and gravel inside, or eats ducks and other animals that have been shot but not recovered by hunters. Since it is a very long lived scavenger and an apex predator eating many dead animals as well as what it catches, it is going to acquire a lot more shot than a single duck would over time until the poison overcomes it.
Bald eagles are thus particularly vulnerable to lead poisoning and end up in animal rehab a lot in areas where there is a lot of shot in the food chain.
Still, since there is the antigun agenda afoot, there might be a tendency for some liberal rehabbers to take advantage of every ailing eagle and claim it’s sick because of lead shot whether it’s the true cause or not.
Coyote, coon, opossum and fox eat a lot of duck too.
What is the ratio of eagles killed by lead poisoning vs those killed by wind turbines?
That AC Quat junk predates Obama...and yes, it NEEDS TO GO!
