Consider this: in 1972 our population was 210,000,000. Today, we have 325,000,000.

So the WINNING here is even more impressive, since the pool of people is much larger!

I would hardly call 95 million people not working “a tightening of the labor market”...

As millions enter the job market in the next few months, expect the unemployment rate to rise and the media to joyfully report.

Are you seriously trying to credit Trump for this?

The unemployment numbers are totally bogus because they are COOKED. They do not take into account ANY of the 94 MILLION Americans who are out of the labor force who want to work but can not find a job. These American citizens used up ALL of their unemployment benifits in their vain attempts to find work and once their benifits were totally exhausted the fraudulent government bean counters PERMANENTLY REMOVED THEM FROM THE UNEMPLOYMENT ROLLS IN ORDER TO "COOK THE BOOKS" and ARTIFICIALLY lower the unemployment numbers.

These are the "forgotten men and women". They STILL EXIST, and THEY ARE STILL UNEMPLOYED, ONLY OUR "GOVERNMENT" NO LONGER COUNTS THEM SO THAT IT CAN CONTINUE TO LIE ABOUT THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM BY FOISTING THESE PHONY, ARTIFICIALLY LOW "unemployment numbers" on the gullible American public.

If the government returned to using the formula it used to use and accurately counted the unemployment numbers by taking these additional 94 MILLION UNEMPLOYED Americans into account and adding them BACK ONTO the unemployment rolls you would have an honest and accurate unemployment rate of at least 20 percent. But they still refuse to do so because the mass of voters would be in an uproar over how high it REALLY IS and it would hurt THE GOVERNMENT AND WALL STREET'S bottom line and they know they can't have that.

So they will continue to still lie to the American people and foist these phony unemployment numbers on us because it suits their purpose.

94 million out of work. What is that? 27% of the population? So much for the under 5% unemployment.

Full employment doesn’t cause inflation. Currency devaluation does.

Full employment causes people to make more money that compensates currency devaluation, which the government and big business hates.

Until the numbers are based on real hard data we are only fooling ourselves. Not saying that it isn’t getting better out there but its not “Happy Days are Here Again!” time.

The U-6 percentage is down to 9.4 from a high of 10.5 in January, 2016, so SOMETHING is happening.

I’m out of the Labor Market, now. Hopefully for-EVER, but I still care about family and friends being gainfully employed.

Wisconsin is doing MUCH better than average, thanks to Governor Walker, and GOP policies and players. Unemployment rates by state:

This is crap. We haven’t begun to bring down the 100 million unemployed. They are just trying to justify the rate hike they want to further hurt President Trump, Although I acknowledge that obozo likely damaged the economy enough to make an increase inevitable.

Kind of odd. I managed to survive the 2008 - 2016 recession, but got laid off last week for the first time in my life. Unfortunately the company had been struggling for a couple years and people had tp be cut.

Too many folks are commenting on this as if it is the official Unemployment Rate which, I agree, has been vastly understated by the BLS bureaucrats.

The subject of this article however is a count of new applications for unemployment — which is an accurate & real number. And this latest figure IS GOOD NEWS.

IT’s not what it seems to be. Obama and his MSM army concealed the epic rise in employment that continues to this day by not reporting people who were unable to find work so long that they finally gave up. The Obama show also counted people as “employed” if they had seasonal work or part time low paid work, one work assignment for the month etc. All smoke and mirrors. There is no way any incoming president could have changed Obama’s devastating effect on the economy so quickly. These are Obama’s fake numbers.
The MSM is trying to create a false picture of how well he did in office. Any attempt to correct the record and reflect reality will be falsely attributed “trump ruining OBama’s amazing performance” etc.
As another poster said, if people are encouraged to try to return to the work market now that Trump is in office, using Barry’s calculations it will look like the job market worsened because now people who newly return to seeking work are considered “unemployed.” Further, those poor souls will have a hard time competing with others who have been swinging from limb to limb (temp job to part time job to two part time jobs) to survive. Therefore, those who try to rejoin the labor market in hopes of Trumps influence on jobs growth will struggle longer than others - so the picture will be falsely painted to try to diminish support for Trump among his base.

Trump is good, but he’s not this good.

These numbers are the pretend numbers that ignore around 90-95 million able bodied people out of work.

This report, like all the rest that use those metrics, are worthless.

Before Obama left office they were showing him having lowered unemployment.

Just plain silliness.

I do think Trump is going to address real numbers. I’ve seen him do it a number of times.

When there is a real dent in those numbers, it will be because of Trump and we’ll all applaud him for it.
