Fast-food restaurant chain Wendys will install self-order kiosks at 1,000 stores across the country by the end of 2017 to trim extra labor costs imposed by minimum wage hikes, NJ Advance Media reported. Wendys said it already offered to install kiosks in several locations last year and has received positive feedback from customers and franchisees who say they want more of the service.

Doesn’t bother me, they have the crappiest hamburger of all the fast food chains. Just as nasty as starbucks coffee.
“They are primarily for sandwich orders. My kids have gotten to the point that they can order a fully customized hoagie in under 10 seconds. They workers always make it right.”
Our kid loves the WaWa kiosk for the fact he can “add bacon” to just about anything he orders.
If you’re getting food at a fast food restaurant, the kiosk is the least of your worries. Do you ever look to see who’s preparing your food?
Liberal snowflake: “Ha ha! You have to pay us $15 an hour, and you have to put up with our tantrums, lateness, and mood swings. Nanny government said so!”
Wendy’s: “Actually, no.”
If you’re at all competent it shouldn’t take you any longer to put in your order than it did the dude you used to tell your order to, and you don’t have to worry about him mishearing you, not paying attention, or taking offense to your MAGA hat and deliberately screwing it up. And really it’s fastfood, that’s not relaxing, that’s fast, but having your order right the first time is pretty relaxing. I bang through the self-checkout at the grocery store so fast the supervisor once offered me a job.
free soda self refills is a result of the previous minimum wage hike.
It was cheaper to give away refills with self serve and fire employees.
Now if Wendy's would put a little seasoning in their hamburger meat, that would be great.
WOW - who would’ve seen this one coming?
Now to do the same with “medical care”...something that could be handled better and cheaper by machines.
What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger!
I might hit a fast food joint 1-2/month. Based on this thread I actually went to a McDonalds about 1 hour ago; 1/4 lb w/cheese, fries and ice tea. Food was ok.
The counter person was as young girl, probably no more than 20, who was a little setback. She was professional and efficient; did her job. These are the kind of people that get pushed out of the labor market by automation. Perhaps she’s a real PITA employee every other day but did fine by me today. I would much rather see this type of person working and feeling good about their self than sitting at home collecting a gov’t stipend. But if she has to be paid an inflated wage then I guess it’s back to the couch.
That’s the best way to answer the $15.00 an our extortion plot.
” I need mucho ice to get the drink above room temp.”
I think you’re doing it wrong. ;)
Considering that a ‘robot’ kiosk can be built for less than $1000 this is a good trade-off for a $15 an hour employee
It is basically a computer with a touch screen.
I should go into business making these
