If you happen to be in Washington DC, New York City or a few other major metropolitan areas today you may find some of your favorite restaurants and watering holes closed. No, it’s not a national holiday that you forgot about which is causing either the doors to be closed or the facilities to be on reduced service schedules. Activists who oppose the president have started yet another online “movement” in an attempt to disrupt normal services. In a highly dishonest and misleading campaign, they have declared today to be “a day without immigrants.” (New York Times)
In a city where expense account meals are a central part of power players lives, some of Washingtons best-known restaurants will close their doors on Thursday in solidarity with a national campaign to draw attention to the power and plight of immigrants.
The campaign, spread on social media and messaging apps, has called for a day without immigrants. It asks foreign-born people nationwide, regardless of legal status, not to go to work or go shopping in a demonstration of the importance of their labor and consumer spending to the United States economy.
Activists and groups in cities across the country have picked up the call, reposting fliers found online, and in some cases organizing demonstrations to coincide with the event. Several activists said that they did not know how the campaign began or how many people would heed it, and that as far as they knew, there was no national organization behind it.
The fact that the participants are engaging in this tactic is perhaps not nearly as dismaying as the way the media is gleefully picking up on the story. Were there any honest reporting going on the New York Times and their colleagues in the mainstream media, they would be mentioning the fact that the entire premise of this campaign is fundamentally fraudulent. The organizers are encouraging everyone who is an immigrant “regardless of their legal status” to stay home from work today. The clear implication here is that all immigrants should be opposed to Donald Trump’s policies regarding illegal immigration.
This is not simply misleading, but rather an act of fraud. I have yet to meet a single person among the ranks of conservatives concerned about border security who is opposed to legal immigration or fails to value the contributions of those who come to our country following well-defined rules to make a new life. Further, the “disruption” they are seeking could be generated by targeting any demographic group in the nation. A day without women, without Jews, without left-handed people or even, yes, white folks, would result in what the New York Times describes as a “hit to the stomach.”
The truly nauseating portion of this is the fact that the entire concept is an insult to those who followed the rules, came to America and made a new life for themselves. This so-called protest is encouraging them to lose a day’s pay on behalf of those who refused to follow the rules and continue to break the laws set forth under the Constitution which naturalized citizens have sworn to defend.
But what the heck. Let them hold their protest, put a dent in everyone’s profits and bask in the glow of media adoration which will surely follow. Who cares if it makes any sense? There are political points to be scored.
I look forward to this ‘Day without Illegals’. Don’t think it’s going to have much impact here in the sticks - the ones we have likely don’t even know about it.
At least the patrons won’t be subject to spit in their burgers (or worse)......think Leona Helmsley and her restaurant waiters.....
I’m all for a lifetime without illegal aliens, and just say NO to illegal alien muslim lifeguards, everywhere.
Does this mean that the elites will change their kids diapers and mow their own grass and pack their own lunch? Surely you gest.
HEADLINE OF THE DAY POLL:
Why are there so many heartbreaking stories about illegal aliens in the news?
Trump’s policies are harming immigrant communities
The news media are dishonestly attempting to sway public opinion
Besides not working today to celebrant Immigrant day, I have done the following:
Last month, I changed my name to Juan Jose Mohammed, to get my EBT card and other freebies.
Then, I took down my Rebel flag (which you CAN’T buy on Amazon anymore) and peeled the NRA and Trump stickers off my front window and my F250 4 wheel pickup. I replaced them with Cair/LaRaza stickers.
I disconnected my home alarm system and quit the wimpy Neighborhood Watch. I bought two Pakistani flags and put one at each corner of the front yard.
Next, I purchased the black flag of ISIS (which you CAN Buy on EBAY or Amazon) and ran it up the flagpole. Now the local police, sheriff, FBI, CIA, NSA, Homeland Security, Secret Service and other agencies are all watching my house 24/7. FBI Director Comey personally calls twice a day to see if we are safe from the evil Trump people.
I’ve NEVER felt safer, and I’m saving $80 a month, ADT used to charge me. Plus, I bought burkas for us to wear from Amazon. Now, when I go out to stock up at Wal-Mart. Everyone moves out of the way and security can’t pat me down. If they say I’m a male wearing a burka, I just say I’m feeling like a woman today and where is my special bathroom. They turn and run away. The women’s bathrooms are so much cleaner than the men’s! Target will be installing an urinal in their women’s bathroom for me.
The good people at CAIR call me at least twice a day to see if we need anything or want to protest anything.
The Mexican embassy also calls us daily to see if we need anymore freebies and did we need more La Raza stickers.
We have Chuckie Schumers, McCains and Pelosis private phone numbers on Speed Dial on our new Free Obama I Phone 7s, with premium and free Verizon service, if we need anything.
Safe at last. Isnt this country great! Hot Dog (Only all beef!)!
Yours Truly, Juan Jose Mohammed.
Is the government going to celebrate by not paying welfare benefits to the illegal invaders? Are hospital emergency rooms going to celebrate by putting illegal invaders at the back of the line? Are employers going to celebrate by paying the wage their legal citizen employees would be getting without the competition from illegal invaders? Are the credit bureaus going to celebrate by restoring the credit ratings of those who have had their credit destroyed by illegal invaders who have stolen their identities?
This does not even scratch the surface of the problems caused in our country by those who are currently residing here illegally. It is not hatred; it is just a fact that they are currently putting a strain on our country that cannot begin to be measured. And the fake number of ten million that they have been using since the Reagan administration is just plain baloney.
Their efforts are all in vain. The people of REAL AMERICA know what’s going on, and has been going on for eight years and more.
We’re fed up! We’re fired up! And we will NOT listen to the MSM’s pathetic, futile attempts to make us ‘feel bad’ about a damn thing Trump does!..........................
Ok, Basket of Deportables made me laugh.
I remember them doing this in the early 2000’s.
One Mexican restaurant in my hometown closed for the day and everyone was so ticked off about it that people stopped going there and it closed down not long after. IIRC, the whole family worked there and everyone loved them. They thanked us for welcoming them with open arms by spitting in our faces, insinuating that we didn’t appreciate them.
I mean, really? Who could possibly be against this. I am ready to extend this holiday for a week, month, year or decade. The sooner the better!
Good one Grampa Dave!
Don't let the door hit ya where the Lord split ya and get out of our country.
Why don’t we just have a day without mainstream media fake news?
a day without immigrants.
Can we have a year without immigrants????
