Washington (CNN)Embattled White House national security adviser Michael Flynn resigned Monday night, two sources tell CNN. His departure came just after reports surfaced the Justice Department warned the Trump administration last month that Flynn misled administration officials regarding his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States and was potentially vulnerable to blackmail by the Russians.

If she revealed highly sensitive info that she obtained as a high level official in the DOJ, she needs to go away for a long time in stony lonesome.
Is the justice department really on our side?
Already tired of losing, and this is a loss.
We’re still at 99-1.
Flynn ostensibly resigned because he provided Vice President Mike Pence with incomplete information about a conversation he had with the Russian ambassador, which turned out to include a discussion of recent sanctions, contrary to his earlier denials. Trust is crucial; the resignation was warranted.
That said, the sanctions were largely bogus, and were applied not just to punish Russia for spying on the U.S. (both countries clearly spy on each other), but to substantiate the Democratic Partys sore-loser conspiracy theory that Russia was responsible for electing Donald Trump.
There is no concrete evidence to support that theory, and there is no evidence (yet) that Flynn did anything but discuss sanctions in the most general terms. He did not break the Logan Act, nor any other law, apparently.
Whether Flynn deliberately concealed the contents of his conversation from Vice President Pence, or merely forgot what had been said, he was caught because the Department of Justice had been eavesdropping on the conversation. And one of the officials responsible for ordering the eavesdropping was none other than Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, who forced President Trump to fire her when she defied her duty to enforce his executive order on immigration, however, controversial.
True, I found myself agreeing with Dennis, the Menace, and it was uncomfortable. Of course he then took a big left turn into lala land and I was back to normal.
Yup. Lottsa people who wouldn't recognize the quote "Patriots will win by eight."
True. I wonder how many young Captains and Lieutenants the General held accountable for telling half truths.
WHY?? Didn’t they come back w/Hitlary’s giving Russia our uranium?
Flynn is now a guy who has been fired by both Obama and Trump.
Right now the Trump administration should follow the old X-Files show message of “Trust No One” especially in the federal government. The long knives are out to get the man trying to end the globalist party in DC. It should be pretty clear to any objective person who is trying to stifle the wishes of the American people. It’s the political class and the media who want their good ol boy system back in place because their attacks on Trump are relentless and so clear in their hatred for the man. The president is fighting for the American people. The MSM and the DC crowd don’t give a bleep about any of us. I hope more and more Americans are beginning to see this.
What does one do?
I read Peter Hitchens blog and columns from the UK and he notes that his once great and mighty nation needs to do business with China so badly that the Chinese president’s protestors were held back further than George W. Bush’s were a decade earlier, plus the British police raided homes of people who protested the Chinese leader’s visit to the UK.
The UK lowered it flag to half staff the other year when the Saudi king died. The UK needs their money and business, too.
Sheldon Adelson, you mention doing business with the Chicoms, also supports Israel.
I support Israel, too.
But I smell something rotten when it comes to Israel’s supporters like the Neocons and so on since they love the jihadists-al Qaeda in Syria.
I think in order to deal with Iran and the potential of Syria as an Iranian base, they are players with the Saudis in trying to take out Assad.
But Russia got in their way.
Ukraine was just a spontaneous revolt to overthrow the pro-Russian government back in 2014?
Whatever, Putin came back with the Crimean takeover and eventually military deployments to help Assad in Syria even more.
The Saudis-Gulf Arabs want the energy pipeline to sell to Europe and Israel wants Iran’s ally and launch pad to attack Israel taken out.
Doesn’t that really make some sense.
And the USA’s reliance on Saudi money to prop up banks, corporations, government etc. etc.
So we have this campaign against Russia and anyone like Flynn who ‘talked to the Russians before the inauguration’, who ‘lied to Pence’ etc. etc. etc.
It all smells powerfully yucky like ****.
So you believe he was speaking for himself?
Aren’t these types of conversations routinely taped ? Whatever he said to the ambassador it doesn’t excuse lying.
How did Washington Post learn the nature of the phone call? FBI tapped it and the acting Atty General reported to the White House Counsel that Flynn may be subject to blackmail. Who was the Acting AG? Yates, the Obama holdover Trump fired for refusing to enforce his Exec order on immigration. Does not take a rocket scientist to determine where the leak came from.
I hear ya!
But I think Russia is easier to handle and maybe even quasi win over (as we also worked with them in WWII), whereas the Chinese are the greater threat.
But the real issue here is who listened in, who produced the transcript and who leaked it to the Washington Post. The administration has to get control of these leaks and quash the leakers. Quickly. An enemy within is much more dangerous than those on the outside.
Gordon Chang, who you mentioned earlier, talks China with John Batchelor on the radio.
I listen in once and a while.
Trump has to keep his options open.
There are powerful forces that are squeezing Russia right now like those I mentioned.
A negotiated compromise to make all sides happy so the greater threat of China can be faced?
There’s got to be a better way......
Agreed. I listen to some of Batchelor’s podcasts after his shows have aired.
Monica Crowley was a regular weekly cohost there until she was hit with the repeat plagiarism allegations, as she was the online political editor and a columnist for the Washington Times. Sounds like a really bad charge, but then the estimable Andy McCarthy made a terrific defense for her in an article at the NR, which showed how much of what she did was egregiously misrepresented in the orchestrated political hit on her.
Maybe another case where the Trump team would have been better fighting than folding.
