Four Republican senators have withdrawn their support for Labor Secretary nominee Andrew Puzder after he admitted to hiring an undocumented immigrant as his housekeeper, Law Newz reported.
Per sources, Sens. Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Tim Scott, and Johnny Isakson have all said they will not support Puzder, a chief executive of Hardee's parent company, because of all the hiccups ahead of his confirmation hearing.
Puzder said in a statement Feb. 6 he and his wife had employed a housekeeper for three years but didn't know she was in the U.S. illegally.
"When I learned of her status, we immediately ended her employment and offered her assistance in getting legal status," he said. "We have fully paid back taxes to the IRS and the State of California."

Ha!
I think it was Mnuchin who was just confirmed.
What is it with Labor Secretary nominees and this issue?
I seem to recall this same kind of revelation back in 2001 with the first Labor Secretary nominee.
the vote hasn’t taken place yet...
Yes, Pudzer’s confirmation hearing is this Thursday.
You're right. Sorry for the goof.
I understand liberal republicans like Murkowski, Collins, and Isakson, but why would Tim Scott jump on the loser train?
What more is the guy supposed to do?
The GOP four better hope their records are squeaky clean.
Just keepin' it real.
He said she worked there for three years before they found out she was illegal? Why wouldn’t they have verified that from the get-go? Maybe it’s possible he’s on the up-and-up, because I don’t understand what’s entailed in hiring household help, but I would think anyone would check that out.
And when did they “discover” she was illegal? After he knew he was being considered for a position in the Cabinet?
if he was a dem, it would be no biggie, considering he didn’t know at the time. The Reps need to let go of their ‘apologize for breathing’ attitude, and learn to say, ‘so what?”
He’s toast after losing 4 Repubs.
Confirm him now!
In my last post I mentioned keepin' it real. She was an invader. He should've bought her a one-way ticket home, with a generous enough of a stipend to establish herself in her homeland.
He isn't on our side if he'd even consider helping an invader become legal.
It’s one thing to find out the landscaper is using illegals in their company. It’s completely different to hire one yourself and keep her off the books until your under the microscope. I assume he was a user of the cheap labor express. Making it right when caught is like putting the money back after robbing the bank when the cops show up. This seems hypocritical. Maybe I am reading it wrong.
Well ... bye, Putzer. It was nice knowing you.
“When I learned of her status, we immediately ended her employment and offered her assistance in getting legal status,” he said. “We have fully paid back taxes to the IRS and the State of California.”
‘Nuf said.
Confirm him.
