President Donald Trump tore into Arizona Sen. John McCain this morning, claiming that the former prisoner of war has been 'losing so long he doesn't know how to win anymore.'
McCain and Trump have never seen eye-to-eye on foreign policy, and the Republican senator has been especially critical of the president's first special op, a raid in Yemen on an al Qaeda affiliate.
The White House has repeatedly said the assault was a 'success,' even though a Navy SEAL and an eight-year-old American girl died in the crossfire.
'While many of the objectives of the recent raid in Yemen were met, I would not describe any operation that results in the loss of American life as a success,' McCain rebutted.
Trump said Thursday morning that McCain should keep his opinions to himself - criticism of the operation 'only emboldens the enemy!' McCain is the de-facto head of the anti-Trump, GOPe clique in Senate and the House.
He and his side-kick, Lindsey “Tonto” Graham, are working and coordinating with the previous #NeverTrump group. They haven’t gone away.
The president didn’t “go after a POW,” he replied to a US senator! Get it straight!
McCain’s former military and POW status bears no relevance to the disastrous and pitiful performance he’s shown as a US Senator. To explain away his current duplicity in a political career that dwarfs his former service of whatever repute is disingenuous at best.
At any rate, we can salute what he ONCE was and condemn what he is NOW, but the former never will justify the latter.

You know...a lot of folks see President Trump as being thin-skinned, and maybe he comes off that way, but I’m starting to think he is using a well thought out calculated strategy here. He seems to have a policy of hitting back hard whenever he gets unfairly criticized and I can’t help but think this is not a bad idea. Folks like McCain have gotten a free pass for too long, and the Pres is simply demonstrating the old adage of not throwing rocks when you live in a glass house. It’s actually a great way to hold these idiots accountable and will probably raise the bar quite a bit. Refreshing!
Trump didn’t “ go after’ Maverick
He just tweeted about how Maverick is really a stupid Goose for publicly criticizing a SEAL raid for losing an aircraft when a brave soldier was just buried ... not that Goose cares much for leaving his buddies behind
Also Trump generously did not mention how many aircraft were lost by the stupid Goose
Trump should simply reply. “USS Forrestal”.
Also by McCains standards, D- Day was an unsuccessful mission
He has a point, this is how we lost World War II. We defeated all our enemies but some of our guys didn't make it so....
