Marriage is not worth it. Its not worth the financial sacrifices, the lost sexual opportunities, and the lack of freedom. All in all, its a ball and chain of little benefit to any man interested in pursuing happiness and well-being. This is the view that weve encountered from many young men of late.

...And divorce lawyers.
I started at 35 to get very serious about marriage and kids. As a businessman it took planning, marketing, advertising, interviewing, and a lot focus and diligence. It took two years, found an acceptable partner, then 2 kids, a home, mtg, cat and dog for 18 years. In other words a lot of work just to get started.
I guess when women get screwed so many times by the Government they eventually start to like it:-)
Ok that made me chuckle!
I’ve been reading the comments with the understanding that Free Republic seems to be a more male demographic although there are plenty of women. One can discern that from the myriad of guilty/ not guilty posts and “ eye bleach” pictures.
None of which offend me by the way.
That being said, I’ve had lots of female friends and have heard their stories. Physical abuse, cheating, addictions;incarceration...the stories aren’t always pretty on the other side.

The ones that havent been ridden around the block a half dozen times already?
Half dozen would be VERY lucky for a guy for an attractive woman over the age of 24 today. With casual hookup apps like Tinder and 100 "dating" websites, many have had 6+ partners in the last 3 months with the top 5% of guys literally hooking up with an unbelievable # of women.
*shrug* It’s a system that has worked for hundreds of thousands of years...
If he moves out of Boston to the south or midwest, he’ll be more likely to find a 20-24 year old woman that would be more than happy to stay at home and raise kids. But there certainly are a large # of them that want a career, too - but less so than up north.
My good looking sweet 37 year old nephew says he can’t find anybody. I can’t believe girls are not throwing themselves at him.
The truth of the holiness of being the life-bearer and comforter has been hidden and stolen from women in American culture. And, it is not recognized or respected by men any more.
The Frankfurt School has been incredibly successful in this regard.
I shoulda gone, instead I got a new job in Silicon Valley...
Too true!
Nevada is nice...
