I will never get married again.
Nope.
For what it is worth, I still discriminate based on people having two parents, four grandparents, eight great grandparents, 16 great great grandparents, etc., and knowing who they were. It correlates well with good genes and culture. But it is getting hard to find...
So very true. It’s been 11 months since my bride of 35 years lost her battle with cancer. We were married at 25; bought our first house while engaged; both had MBAs.
Now our only son is almost 32 and is no rush at all to get married. Most of his college friends are still single. I’m told it’s a different world today.
But when you find that one person meant for you, no matter whether it be in high school or when you’re later in life, you just KNOW it. I still remember the first time I saw my future wife and exactly what she was wearing. She always told me she thought that was creepy, but I think secretly she loved that I did.
Hope your “bad news” wasn’t BAD NEWS, and my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Marriage requires:
1. commitment
2. honesty
3. communication
4. forgiveness
5. humility
6. perseverance
7. self sacrifice
8. unity of spirit
Most of the traits set forth above are no longer instilled into our children by society
They believe that it will be like the romance scenes portrayed by Hollywood. Look at the stupid movie stars they go through spouses like I go through underwear.

That is why 100% of the shaming is on the guys to ignore the failure of the people that support this crap to raise quality females, or to prevent the state from rigging so many laws that refuse a husband to a wage slave.

Marriage Risk is not worth the reward.
“Marry a good woman, be a good husband, build a good family, be a good father.
There is nothing sweeter.”
Become a wage slave, have the prospect of financial and social ruin, and the loss of your kids, and maybe false charges of abuse held over your head the minute she gets bored with you, shut up and smile because you are screwed
There is nothing sweeter for women and the state.

No argument there. My situation is not ideal, but I got divorced unwillingly. I found another woman a bit younger who was never married so the new baby. Otoh, he’s adorable and I shall enjoy this new direction my life has taken me.
The world today teaches males at a young age that women have “options”, men have obligations.
Let’s just say it is my turn to be his rock much like you were for your wife.
Your story brought tears to my eyes. It is my hope that your son will have what you and your wife had. He has your marriage as an example! Sadly we are teaching the younger generation to pursue sex instead of romance. Hedonism instead of commitment. Self above all. Your marriage taught your son incredible values....far more than mere words could say. He won’t settle for anything less is my guess. My prayer for him will be that God prepares for him a mate that is perfect for him. That it will be a blessing and comfort to you.
My comment wasn’t specifically against you. I just started thinking about my age and what could have been. I ended up with a daughter at age 32 and it was about all I could handle when she turned 18.....oh, the sleepless nights.
Regardless, I wish you the best of luck, and even if you don’t have the stamina, I am sure your younger wife will :0)
my daughter is 36 and has been married,(guy was a cheater) no kids, owns a house, works full time, and would LOOOVE to remarry and have a family.
She hates dating, tho. She needs to go on Married at First Sight!

Options: Let me translate.
The women have the option to get an education, get a career and slut around in their 20s. The women are riding high as they are young and pretty. They are living the dream they think.
Suddenly they will hear their biological clock ticking. Now the woman will exercise more of her options. She will suddenly decide she doesn’t want the same type of guy she was bedding her whole adult life before. Now she will want a “nice guy.” A guy who will ignore her past sexual partner count, a guy who will ignore all of the flaws that come along with falling in love and breaking up over and over and over again. A guy who is willing to start a family and give his resources to HER.
It must be nice to have the options to be selfish and greedy and to be able to find a pool of men to go along with this.
Sadly, the options for men are nowhere near as nice.
If the recent women’s march was a display of the kind of woman men are meeting these days, then I can see why they’re opting to stay single.
There are nice women out there, it’s just difficult to find them in the age of Kardashian.
Why would a family of $75000 want to be married when the man can make $45000 and not pay taxes and his ‘girlfriend’ can file her $30000 separately, claim all welfare benefits, and get $1000 a month in government assistance?
Also must be able to RESPECT your partner.
Yeah, both my friends from college are 40 and just married 26 year olds. My wife is my age but I’d never leave her, she’s just too good of a woman.
