This needs to be challenged in court as it’s nothing more than an attack on the Second Amendment.

Gun Permit Fee? I would say that is infringement on the right to keep and bear arms. How the hell do these laws or fees get passed? I left CT long ago, after they started to tax personal income. I don’t miss it at all. There were no gun laws at the time.

So how is your day going fellow Nutmeggers?

This looks like payback for *us* being such a vocal minority.

**“We feel that the increase of Pistol Permit fees 400 percent is astronomical,” Scott Wilson, CCDL president said. “This will have a deep impact on those who only wish to protect their own lives, and the lives of their families. Many Connecticut gun owners are struggling with the current economic conditions in our state.”

Wilson added: “If a cost increase of this measure goes through in the governor’s budget, we will consider this an infringement on the 2nd Amendment. If Connecticut residents are forced to pay exorbitant fees in order to purchase and/or carry a firearm for protection, it legitimately ceases to be a right anymore.

“This proposal is simply Governor Malloy trying to cover his failed policies on the backs of Connecticut gun owners,’’ Wilson said.**

How much do they charge to register to vote?

Should be same price.

Free men do not have to get a license from the government to exercise their rights. Could you imagine the outrage if journalists were required to get a writing license from the government.

As long as we’re taxing Constitutional rights, how about a poll tax too? Oh, yeah - that’s right: it was unconstitutional.

Some state should impose an ‘abortion fee’ to help defray budget deficits.

Next there will be permits to speak and attend religious services. Once you allow the government to license your rights, the camel's nose is under the tent. Stop it now.

Malloy, I have a great raise to raise money -— lower taxes - half the income tax, lower sales taxes (New Hampshire can be driven to in 90 minutes from Greenwich, so it is less in most parts), lower business taxes (so companies like GE will stay) and cut spending!!!

Malloy [CT] budget sets huge increases for gun permit fees [up 400]

The power to tax is the power to destroy.
Count me in on a class action suit against CT if this idiot and his legislature are too stupid to understand what "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED," MEANS.

Can't be a clearer infringement than to "tax" a Constitutional right into non-existence.
Yet, requiring a voter ID costing $5 is deemed a "NAZI" unnecessary hardship...

When you have to pay a fee, it is a privilege not a right.

They should slap a $100 fee on voting. Let’s see how that flies.

In Maine, the fee is zero.

We have Constitutional Carry....no permit required.

"....cost of the initial 5-year pistol permit fee from $140 to $370"

They are probably embarrassed that Nutmeggers are getting carry permits in record numbers - Malloy takes heat from the other Libtard polititians.

Now that Weiker is dead and buried, you're raison d'ete in Konnecticut is gone.
I'd head to a Red state too if I could unload my house.

Funny how a free ID to be able to vote is too much of a burden for folks to enjoy that “right” but no cost is too prohibitive for other Constitutional/God-given RIGHTS.
