HARTFORD >> Gun owners will see huge increases in permit fees that would raise millions of dollars to help the state combat its two-year, $3.6 billion deficit.

As part of his budget, Malloy is proposing to increase the state portion of the pistol permit fee from $70 to $300. He also is proposing the cost of the initial 5-year pistol permit fee from $140 to $370.

This needs to be challenged in court as it’s nothing more than an attack on the Second Amendment.

Gun Permit Fee? I would say that is infringement on the right to keep and bear arms. How the hell do these laws or fees get passed? I left CT long ago, after they started to tax personal income. I don’t miss it at all. There were no gun laws at the time.

So how is your day going fellow Nutmeggers?

This looks like payback for *us* being such a vocal minority.

**“We feel that the increase of Pistol Permit fees 400 percent is astronomical,” Scott Wilson, CCDL president said. “This will have a deep impact on those who only wish to protect their own lives, and the lives of their families. Many Connecticut gun owners are struggling with the current economic conditions in our state.”

Wilson added: “If a cost increase of this measure goes through in the governor’s budget, we will consider this an infringement on the 2nd Amendment. If Connecticut residents are forced to pay exorbitant fees in order to purchase and/or carry a firearm for protection, it legitimately ceases to be a right anymore.

“This proposal is simply Governor Malloy trying to cover his failed policies on the backs of Connecticut gun owners,’’ Wilson said.**

Free men do not have to get a license from the government to exercise their rights. Could you imagine the outrage if journalists were required to get a writing license from the government.

As long as we’re taxing Constitutional rights, how about a poll tax too? Oh, yeah - that’s right: it was unconstitutional.

We need a first amendment fee...and while we are at it a fee you need to pay in order to prevent the police from searching your house without a warrant...

Someone with deep pockets needs to challenge this in court.

Some state should impose an ‘abortion fee’ to help defray budget deficits.

“Malloy is an idiot.”

Maybe so, but he’s going to start taxing the length of your schwantzes before too long to keep up his spending.

tIMHO, This needs to be ignored.

I seen no reason to support this sort of extortion, by complying with it. Further I see no reason why I would need a permit to carry a weapon...concealed or otherwise.

Molloy may be an idiot, but the sheeple will comply.

Connecticut: Where law abiding gun owners lined up to "register" their long guns.

You bought and paid for this incrementalistic gun ban.

Free men do not have to get a license from the government to exercise their rights.

That is the truth of the matter. Free men are free.

Next there will be permits to speak and attend religious services. Once you allow the government to license your rights, the camel's nose is under the tent. Stop it now.
