Israeli and French researchers to excavate ancient site of Kiryat Yearim, outside Jerusalem, one of the few unstudied biblical tels
One of the few remaining unstudied major biblical sites, where according to the Bible the Ark of the Covenant was kept for two decades, will be excavated by archaeologists this summer for the first time.
Organizers hope the anticipated study of Kiryat Yearim (also transliterated as Kiriath Jearim) will shed light on the sites significance during the Iron Age, the period associated with the biblical account of King David.
Kiryat Yearim is mentioned over a dozen times in the Bible as a Judahite town situated near Jerusalem during the period of the judges and King David the Iron Age, in archaeological terms.

The statue that has breasts. Breasts, and feminine features that Akhenaten's cult went out of their way to depict - in every idolatrous, "in your face", depection of their revolutionary god-emperor.
XXY? Androgen Insensitivity? Hemaphroditism? Some other inbred defect he/she/it and the royal fem-cult wanted to propagate?
Observe how bees figure into Egyptian mythology. The social structure of the hive is ALL female - with the exception of male drones whose usefulness fatally expires immediately after mating.
Observe the ~multiple~ historical instances of male infanticide associated with the caste of theocratic perverts.
Yeah, the realigned timeline raises a lot of cultural questions that are relevant today.
There is nothing new under the Aten(s)!
JUST WHAT I CAME TO THE THREAD FOR!!!! LOL
It was also in the writing that the prophet, having received an oracle, ordered that the tent and the ark should follow with him, and that he went out to the mountain where Moses had gone up and had seen the inheritance of God. And Jeremiah came and found a cave, and he brought there the tent and the ark and the altar of incense, and he sealed up the entrance. Some of those who followed him came up to mark the way, but could not find it. When Jeremiah learned of it, he rebuked them and declared: "The place shall be unknown until God gathers his people together again and shows his mercy." (2 Maccabees 2:1-7)
I know where it is...I’m just not sure *which* exact warehouse.
Thanks. That’s one of the primary texts regarding the Ark’s location but I hadn’t read it in a while.
“The place shall be unknown until God gathers his people together again and shows his mercy.”
I like that part. Just noting a potential word play in “the place shall be unknown”... a hint at “ploni almoni”, which is a “such and such” place (or person), like Anytown USA or John Doe.
The Biblical place “called” ploni almoni was the place David’s men went after fleeing Saul, but David didn’t want to tell the priest where that was.

I heard about this account as well, and it would make the most sense, but did the tent exist in his day? They had the Temple but I always wondered if the tent was still in existence when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians.
Thanks for sharing that. I like that too!
I forget where I read it (probably in extra-biblical rabbinic writings) but I think it was generally thought that after Solomons temple was completed, the desert tabernacle was disassembled and stored in the temple complex, perhaps even inside the Holy of Holies.
the place Davids men went after fleeing Saul
Ha, oops. Looks like I am as guilty as those bad headline writers. Should be
the place Davids men went, after they fled from Saul.
:)
May I suggest that if the Ark is found, the democrats in the Senate open it?

The Israelis need to put a notice on Facebook offering to restore the city to the Hivites. The Hivites will show up.
What Herod's theocratic pedigree?Matt 2:16
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under...

Kinda interesting how Mel Gibson depicted Herod and his entourage...
Herod’s line was Greek, Macedonian, and they had their own unique genetic issues. On the positive side he was a great builder. The foundation stones used during his time have a unique cut that can be seen all over Jerusalem. But he was certainly not a descendant of the genuine Royal line of God’s people. That line ran through the adopted son of a Nazarene carpenter.

I think the Ethiopian theory is the most likely.
