Herod’s line was Greek, Macedonian, and they had their own unique genetic issues. On the positive side he was a great builder. The foundation stones used during his time have a unique cut that can be seen all over Jerusalem. But he was certainly not a descendant of the genuine Royal line of God’s people. That line ran through the adopted son of a Nazarene carpenter.
