A group of Republican senior statesmen is pushing for a carbon tax to combat the effects of climate change, and hoping to sell their plan to the White House.
Former Secretary of State Jim Baker is leading the effort, which also includes former Secretary of State George Shultz. In an opinion piece published Tuesday night in The Wall Street Journal, they argued there is mounting evidence of problems with the atmosphere that are growing too compelling to ignore. [ ]
Carbon taxes are designed to raise the cost of fossil fuels to bring down consumption. Baker and Shultz detailed in the opinion piece their plan for a gradually increasing carbon tax, with dividends being returned to people, as well as border adjustments for the carbon content of exports and imports and the rollback of regulations.

What this carbon tax should be called is a VAT tax.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponents Argument
While federal government oversight of the environment is arguably a good idea, patriots are reminded that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for environmental protection purposes.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
In other words, the misguided, low-information Republicans in question are unthinkingly helping to unconstitutionally expand the already unconstitutionally big federal governments powers.
Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!
Remember in November 18 !
Since Trump entered the 16 presidential race too late for patriots to make sure that there were state sovereignty-respecting candidates on the primary ballots, patriots need make sure that such candidates are on the 18 primary ballots so that they can be elected to support Trump in draining the unconstitutionally big federal government swamp.
Such a Congress will also be able to finish draining the swamp with respect to getting the remaining state sovereignty-ignoring, activist justices off of the bench.
Noting that the primaries start in Iowa and New Hampshire in February 18, patriots need to challenge candidates for federal office in the following way.
Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitutions Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal governments powers.
Patriots also need to find candidates that are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal governments limited powers listed above.
One of the assembled idiots described the proposal as a very republican thing to do. Raising taxes to perpetuate a scam, and redistributing money to “low income” citizens. Suddenly, we’ve set a pretty low bar to being a republican.
Coming to think about it, it seems the racketeering Cold War militaro Industrial complex Opinion making has now moved to social justice issues of carbon tax. This is nuts.
wonder how much money they figure to make on this. Theyre obviously jealous of Algore.
A group of SENILE Rinos...
Stupid jerks are so far behind the known situations and facts. I guess they figure it’s going to get worse for their BS getting accepted now that very few people actually believe the MSM on anything.
