A group of Republican senior statesmen is pushing for a carbon tax to combat the effects of climate change, and hoping to sell their plan to the White House.
Former Secretary of State Jim Baker is leading the effort, which also includes former Secretary of State George Shultz. In an opinion piece published Tuesday night in The Wall Street Journal, they argued there is mounting evidence of problems with the atmosphere that are growing too compelling to ignore. [
]
Carbon taxes are designed to raise the cost of fossil fuels to bring down consumption. Baker and Shultz detailed in the opinion piece their plan for a gradually increasing carbon tax, with dividends being returned to people, as well as border adjustments for the carbon content of exports and imports and the rollback of regulations.

It's CO2(an invisible gas) and not C(Carbon, like a hunk of coal). CO2 is a nutrient and not a pollutant and taxing it is beyond f-ing stupid.

What happened to free markets ? They're afraid Trump will bring them back.
They have more in common with liberal/democrat Big Government globalists than they do with true republicans and the US Constitution.

If a human will hold his(/her) breath for 20 seconds, three times a day (totaling one minute per day), they will reduce their personal CO2 output.
When added up, this combined savings from all the people participating, over time will SIGNIFICANTLY reduce global warming.
When Jim Baker, et. al., shows me their daily calendar with their checked-off breath-holding participation, I will start to listen to them. These breath-holdings must be initialed by their mother (like home music practice for band, you might recall).

Don’t overlook these Davoisie’s impulse to redistribute from the so-called rich,e.g. middle class, to the poor through tax rebates distributed through social security.

"Statesman" Baker can't be the same guy as the "Texas Oil Man" Baker, can he?
The fellow's made his money, yet doesn't want younger generations to make theirs.

Carbon taxes are designed to raise the cost of fossil fuels to bring down consumption. And therefore deindustrialize and harm America, which benefits our sane international competitors who know global warming is a Marxist-inspired hoax.

Indeed, let them surrender their lands to Conservation Easement and live in a cardboard box like the Dai Lama. Always the same opinion makers who demand sacrifice from others wihout recognizing said sacrifices, considering us as peasants. Judge Roberts “it is only a tax” f@gotry is most elitist and arrogant

The global warmists told us there is a tipping point where nothing can be done to prevent a global warming catastrophe(whatever that is). They said if Trump gets elected then we have passed the point of no return. Great! If nothing can be done about then STHU.

They would then redistribute tax proceeds back to consumers on a quarterly basis in what they call carbon dividends that could be approximately $2,000 annually for a family of four.Great! This should cover the cost of the gasoline price increase!
Wow!
Add this $2,000 to the $2,500 annual savings we're waiting on from Obamacare and we'll have enough money to buy some prepper stores, a couple of good rifles and a few thousand rounds of ammo.
