After Gov. Greg Abbott yanked $1.5 million in state grant funding to Travis County over its new sanctuary policy, state Rep. Eddie Rodriguez on Friday announced a new initiative to raise money from the private sector to make up for the loss. The initiative, called Travis County #StrongerTogether, will allow people to donate tax-deductible funds to the county in an effort to keep afloat the formerly grant-funded programs, such as a special veteran’s court and drug diversion program, through the Austin Community Foundation.

I have no problem with this. If it can be shown that these programs can be funded privately, that’s the end of the “We can’t exist with out taxpayers handout” argument

Only some charities and situations are acceptable for refunds...
since this lack is due to unlawful behavior on the part of the city/county officials I don’t think the IRS will refund any contribution in taxes...
I’m sure the county will “allow” people to donate...actually that’s beg or coherse ...
also since the residents have already been taxed to pay for genuine law enforcement, I would take a dim view in being asked to pay a second time for services I relied on to protect me especially when they are denied me and my family..
Note: we have not heard from the local people living in Travis County as yet... wheres the poll from them on how they feel about this lawlessness ???

Well, when you don’t believe that anything is any better than anything else - being better or worse than something becomes meaningless. And that is the very foundation of Leftist thought.
Thinking something is better than something else - such as peaceful, law abiding Christians are better for your community than angry, aggressive Muslims...or that winning a game is better than losing a game (participation trophies)...is merely discrimination. And discrimination - saying one thing is better than another - creates conflict and thus is the greatest evil on Earth. Everything is equal, there is right and wrong, good and bad don’t exist. Kumbaya. And that’s the world view of the Left...50, 60 and 70 year-olds who are stuck at the development level of five year-olds.
That’s how things should be done. Don’t use tax payers dollars for funding illegal immigration, take up the collection and let the left foot the bill.
