“After an emotionally draining 16-hour hearing, a state Senate bill to crack down on so-called sanctuary cities and counties received party-line committee approval at 12:45 a.m. Friday, setting the stage for Senate approval next week despite bitter opposition from several hundred witnesses and outnumbered Democrats.”

I have no problem with this. If it can be shown that these programs can be funded privately, that’s the end of the “We can’t exist with out taxpayers handout” argument

Hmm. He needs money because of housing crimigrant illegals and wants citizens to cough up the cash. That’ll go over well. /s

“Travis County #StrongerTogether”

Sounds familiar.

I honestly thought that Hillary was referring to Americans of differing political views coming together. I had no idea it was a rallying cry for illegal immigration.

will allow people to donate tax-deductible funds to the county in an effort to keep afloat the formerly grant-funded programs,
________________________________

I’d check ahead of time if the IRS will allow this...

Only some charities and situations are acceptable for refunds...

since this lack is due to unlawful behavior on the part of the city/county officials I don’t think the IRS will refund any contribution in taxes...

I’m sure the county will “allow” people to donate...actually that’s beg or coherse ...

also since the residents have already been taxed to pay for genuine law enforcement, I would take a dim view in being asked to pay a second time for services I relied on to protect me especially when they are denied me and my family..

Note: we have not heard from the local people living in Travis County as yet... wheres the poll from them on how they feel about this lawlessness ???

That’s how things should be done. Don’t use tax payers dollars for funding illegal immigration, take up the collection and let the left foot the bill.

state tax exempt would be up to texas.

Federal tax exempt seems wrong.

Suckers. What % of any money given will actually help the county? Giving money to crooked politicians, who encourage alien felons to break into our Country, and shield them from the law when they rampage here. Genius!

Travis county will now look to other means to “raise” money.

I.E. more traffic tickets, fines for minor offenses, etc. But who cares, the lemmings that voted for these idiots deserve it.

There is a principle in federal tax law that denies tax deductions for violations of any law. A drug dealer can’t deduct any expenses, their entire gross income is taxable. However, enforcing such a ban would require an honest IRS, which is not likely to happen.

fta... will allow people to donate tax-deductible funds to the county...
***********************************
Texas has no income tax and it’s doubtful that the US Treasury permits tax deductions for go-fund-me contributions.

Just what tax is this guy referring to in his pitch?

I’d like to see them raise those millions privately year after year. The more they pay, the sooner they will learn.

I’m thinking of giving them 2 cents (in a US Postal Money Order). Would cost more to process than it is worth.
