Senate Democrats doubled down on their opposition to the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions as attorney general, highlighting the need for independence in the office by pointing to President Trumps Monday night dismissal of the acting attorney general.
Praising the actions of acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates, who Monday night defiantly announced her refusal to defend in court the presidents executive order banning refugees and travelers from some Muslim countries, Democrats questioned whether Mr. Sessions could be counted on to act independently of the president when warranted. Within hours of Ms. Yates announcement, Mr. Trump fired her, referring to her actions as a betrayal of the Justice Department.
What we saw last night demonstrates what is at stake with this nomination, said Sen. Patrick Leahy, Vermont Democrat, speaking about Ms. Yates actions on Tuesday during a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting.

The average American is totally clueless on this issue! A temporary holdover from a prior administration refuses to do their job and they are fired (a few days before they would be dismissed by the new AG)! This is a "Saturday Night Massacre? WTH???

That’s right. The media are overblowing this minor incident and using the Watergate Saturday Night Massacre as their template.

, highlighting the need for independence in the office by pointing to President Trumps Monday night dismissal of the acting attorney general. Meanwhile, Lynch met with Bubba prior to the FBI announcement.
Holder and Lynch both refused to do anything about the IRS.
And Dems are upset that Trump fired Yates for gross insubordination.

If the President is a Democrat, the AG is supposed to promote that President’s agenda, regardless of the law (e.g., Holder & Lynch).
If the President is a Republican, the AG is expected to oppose him, regardless of the law.
OK, I got it.

Trump firing of acting AG fuels Senate Dems opposition to Sessions nomination Nonsense. They and their accomplices in the media have been on full obstruction mode since the election. NOTHING that Trump does will make the slightest bit of difference to their hatred and contempt of him (and by extension we deplorables who voted for him) and their all out attempt to derail his (and our) agenda.

I guess we are lucky that most of these snowflakes are so ignorant of history they do not know what the phrase “Saturday Night Massacre” means.

Theyre not accepting losing the election. They never will. The Senate Democrats will resist every Trump nominee. Simply abolish the filibuster and keep the Senate Republicans in line.
