Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz Stands Up to Trump and Now People Are Calling for Boycotts
The Street ^ | Jan 30, 2017 | Brian Sozzi

Posted on 01/30/2017 8:42:27 PM PST by aquila48

Never one to refrain from speaking out on political issues, Starbucks (SBUX) CEO Howard Schultz took to his soap box on Sunday evening and fired back at the Trump administration following its controversial immigration ban.

"I write to you today with deep concern, a heavy heart and a resolute promise," Schultz said in a new blog post, adding, "We are living in an unprecedented time, one in which we are witness to the conscience of our country, and the promise of the American Dream, being called into question."

Housed in Schultz's missive were a host of interesting nuggets. Schultz said Starbucks is developing plans to hire 10,000 refugees over the next five years across the 75 countries globally where it does business. Starbucks will begin its hiring focus in the U.S. -- sending a clear message to Trump -- via those people who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel in various countries where U.S. forces have sought support.

.....

People quickly took to TheStreet's Facebook page to voice their opinion on Schultz's comments, with some calling for a boycott.

Byron Fairchild How about hiring 10,000 Americans at home first!!!😡 Glad I only buy at Big B coffee.

Best coffee I ever had was from Venezuela. They never grew it for export. It was only available from small farms. I got some from a college exchange student whose father grew it.

Every Starbucks I have gone into, not that many, is staffed by ignorant white liberal kids. Contrast that with Dunkin Donuts which is a cross section of America. Those is DD need the job. Those in SB do it for trend setting. SB coffee has 2 1/2 times the caffeine of DD’s coffee. Why is SB still in business. Liberal patrons seeking to be cool.

Vanilla is forbidden by Allah, infidel. But you’re the son of goats pigs and monkeys, so I’ll give you vanilla this time. Next time we meet, you die. Have a nice day and enjoy your latte. Be sure to leave a tip.

Yeah, their coffee is bad, but it’s consistent. Kinda like a McDonalds for coffee.
But with a smartphone, you can find good coffee if it exists, anywhere.
BTW, i have been to Costa Rica, and truck stop coffee there is better than 90% of the coffee here.

Even if I were to buy their ground coffee I could make a whole pot for 50 cents. Who spends $3.00 for a cup of coffee when MC.D.’s has any size for $1?

You’d think Starbucks would want to hire 10,000 veterans, but noooooo.

What happens when a sensitive SJW brings her emotional support dog into a Starbucks with a Muslim barista?

He can’t turn Starbucks into a 7-11 but he seems to want to turn it into a 9-11.

I would boycott Starbucks, but I don’t go there. Their pricey froo-froo coffee is not nearly as good as McDonald’s $1.00 coffee and my local McDonald’s is closer than the nearest 9-11 emporium.

He’s talking about hiring 10,000 people from those ranks over the next five years.

Yikes.

I’m not walking in a place that looks like a Syrian bazaar.

And they’ll be preparing something for me to ingest? Really?

Ah NO!

I don’t mind them hiring the support personnel, which I’m fine with letting into the country, but they will likely go beyond that and hire people who no sane person wants in the country.

Starbucks: bad leadership, bad coffee.

That is the case with really good coffee beans.

I had some in Costa Rica that were so mellow you could chew them.

When brewed they were divine.

Thank you! We don’t take to the streets being paid off by Soros’money, blocking traffic and hitting innocent people.
But there’s nothing wrong with hitting them right in the pocket book! Love your style!

BOYCOTT STARBUCKS! Way to go Trumpsters!

“Once we teach a few of these pompous corporate a-holes the folly of insulting the productive half of the American populace we might get a bit of well deserved peace and quiet!”

But we don’t - that’s our problem. Most companies would rather be agnostic about politics - their real religion is the bottom line. The thing they fear most is having a mob descend on their sites and getting tarred and feathered on social media and their stocks crash as a result.

The left is extremely good at this. We on the other hand are either lazy or just amateurs or both. We vote, win an election and then we sit on our asses expecting the politicians we elected to fight the wars against the mobs and the media all on their own - and then bitch and moan when they cave under relentless pressure.

We should do what the left does, pick a couple of targets and relentlessly pound on them until they crumble. And we need to provide active support to our politicians and not leave them in a lurch - let them know that we have their back.

Media outlets like NBC and maybe one or two corporate targets like SBUX would be a good start.
