A new commemorative coin from the U.S. Mint and Treasury features a fresh depiction of Lady Liberty. With a crown of stars in her hair and a toga-like dress, she's as patriotic as ever. She's also, for the first time on an officially minted coin, portrayed as a black woman.
The United States Mint unveiled the 24k gold coin in commemoration of their 225th anniversary. Gaze upon her beauty in full:

My view of gold is pay spot price, or perhaps 5% over. Beyond that it had better look good on my wife, because it’s not an investment.

They are planning a “Hispanic-American.” Hispanic is not a race! Ricky Martin is Hispanic. What race is he? Ridiculous

I agree. The tyrant FDR instituted this bit of imperial nonsense on our coinage.

$100 is the face value of the coin.
Even if gold becomes as common as copper the coin will still be legal tender for $100
Not that that’s likely to happen.

Taft, not FDR. The Lincoln cent of 1909 was intended to be a commemorative coin, with the Indian Head cent returning to general mintage in 1910.
But that's not how it worked out.

Liberty on the "Peace Dollar" was none too happy either. I like the idea of a bitchy, cantankerous female emblem of Liberty. Don't cross her.

Lincoln cent 1909, Washington quarter 1932, Jefferson nickel 1938, Roosevelt dime 1946, Franklin half 1948. Real people on lots of commemoratives before that.

Tell a liberal you don’t believe she’s black, and watch him squirm as he tries to explain how you can tell without mentioning any body parts.

"There will be a protest, just watch..." I there is, it will come from the left. Someone will complain about her ethnic features or the style of the hair. If they let this coin alone, the next project will be how to portray a transgender image.

I sure all these down and out black people who live in poverty will add these gold coins to their extensive coin collections and prize them.
To: Pollster1
That’s right. It should increase in value.

It’s not the bust of a corn-rowed “Liberty” that bugs me.
It’s the freakishly over-sized stars. Totally out of proportion to the rest of the obverse. The mint should get it’s (our) money back for that poor design.
