U.S. paying salaries of tens of thousands of non-existent Afghan soldiers, police..

“John Sopko, special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction (SIGAR), said the salaries of ‘ghost soldiers’ is just one of many ways Americans’ money is wasted in Afghanistan – all for rather modest gains.”

What gains? As soon as the U.S. troops are finally gone from Afghanistan, the Taliban will take over again. The whole Afghan misadventure has been a fool’s errand, a massive, ghastly waste of American lives, money, and materiel.

The U.S. government is paying the salaries of “tens of thousands” of non-existent Afghan soldiers, police, teachers and civil servants, a top Pentagon official said Wednesday in reporting on the scale and variety of misspent U.S. money.

...

His comments summarize a SIGAR report that aims to help inform the new Congress and administration of the most pressing reconstruction challenges in 2017 and beyond. Sopko’s message was one American leaders have heard before.

As per usual, the “elites” screw-over the taxpayer. The lack of oversight and accountability is criminal. Are there no patriots? Are their no forensic accountants?

After Operation Anaconda in 2002 the Afghan soldiers were well paid for their support, as I remember the quote:

“The Afghan soldier were paid $10 and a goat, the goats were well appreciated.”

We won Iraq, but had to maintain 10,000 soldiers there for a longer time.

Obama told terrorist the day we were leaving and then turned it over to Obama’s new sons Isis.

We could have taken oil to pay for those 10,000 plus soldiers for as long as we needed to do that.

We aren’t there for the heck of it any more than we went to Iraq or Kuwaitt, just different commodities.
Same thing for Viet Nam, only there it was Gulf of Tonkin, oil too.
Good day.

"The U.S. government is paying the salaries of “tens of thousands” of non-existent Afghan soldiers, police, teachers and civil servants..."

When told about this, Obama sniffed and said, "Jizya."
