It is ironic that President-elect Donald Trump, a genuine celebrity in his own right, is shunned by many famous folk who refuse to be civil as inauguration day approaches? Who cares? So asks Roger L. Simon, founder of PJ Media and an award-winning Hollywood screenplay writer, who thinks the lack of celebrities is a great thing and points out that Hillary Clinton lost the election despite Tinseltowns best efforts.
Id like to see the inaugural completely celebrity-free. Wouldnt that be refreshing? No endless parade of Kardashians or housewives, real or imagined. No supposedly funny parodies by Alec Baldwin. No endless yadda-yadda from Stephen Colbert. No words of wisdom from Barbra Streisand. Just a few patriotic tunes from a Marine Corps band and a man swearing on, yes, a Bible, writes Mr. Simon in a recent op-ed for the news site.
It wont happen entirely, this celebrity-free zone but it could be close and we should be thankful, he adds. On the positive side too, Trump has apparently decided to write his own speech and, more importantly, keep it short.
The grassroots appeal has been part of the plan for sometime, however. The inaugural is not Woodstock. Its not summer jam. Its not a concert, Boris Epshteyn, director of communications for the Inaugural Committee, told CNN in December.
"The so-called A list celebrities are all wanting tix to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING. I want the PEOPLE! Mr. Trump himself recently tweeted.

The thing Dorkbama loved about his “celebrities” was the fact that as dumb as he was, he was the smartest one in the room.
Send those self absorbed soon to be unemployed mental cases back to their asylums.
OMG, the new in thing will be celebrity free. Celebrity free parties, celebrity free openings, nobody who is anybody will invite celebrities to attend unless they are close personal friends and they will NOT be asked to perform. Celebrities will be passé
You left out sexually depraved, child molesting psychopaths.
That’s another GREAT thing ;-)

I like this guy.
If I want to see a GnR reunion, I’ll buy tickets.
Still, surprised to hear KISS was asked and said no.
+1
Who gives a flip about heaps of dung like Alec Baldwin, Stephen Colbert and Barbra Streisand? I won’t give a rip when they bury them in the ground either. Soros and his thugs can join them too.
Yup. We could make a list.
...And fags. Or is that the same thing?
I, for one, am thrilled that this looks to be a celebrity-less inauguration. I’m hoping the trend continues into a celebrity-less administration and grows into a celebrity-less “culture” in general (at least for the next 8 years).
The story forgot to add, “scantily clothed” celebrities to their story. It will be nice to see normal people for a change.
Oh yeah, here’s a clue .. if you don’t want to listen to the constant over-talking by the media, just switch over to C-SPAN, C-SPAN2, or C-SPAN3 - probably all 3 stations will be showing the ceremony.
I use them also to watch Congressional hearings .. so much better.
the people who are performing at the event are;
16 year old jackie evancho - national anthem
the talladegga university marching band (an all black college
mormon tabernacle choir
radio city rockettes.
Obama has given this country one good thing, I like to think: “celebrity fatigue”.
Nah, that can be separate.
There are child molesters that just like little girls.
Thanks for completing the list.
I would LOVE for the child prostitution ring which involves Hollywood, the Clintons, the UN (friend was a cop in NYC) and other country’s leaders to be brought down.
The only business that is done at the UN involves narcotics, prostitutes, child rape, double parking and bashing Israel/the US.
I thought Gene was bigger than that
We don’t need a circus for crying out loud! Take the oath, say a few words and get to work. Keep it short and dignified.
Any event that’s celebrity-free is a great one!
