Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will oppose the Republican budget resolution designed to begin the process of unwinding the Affordable Care Act, making him possibly the only member of the majority to break ranks.

In a speech scheduled for later Wednesday, he will criticize the resolution for assuming $9 trillion in additional debt over the next 10 years.

The resolution passed today 51 to 48 with one Democrat not voting. Rand Paul was the only Republican voting against. He voted against due to the 9 trillion addition to the national debt over the next 10 years. He favors repeal of Obamacare but wants simultaneous replacement.

Like it or not, it has to be done in pieces. So does immigration.

Repeal and REPLACE Obamacare.

Replace is something Trump has said since the beginning, and is a very important detail.

Repeal and REPLACE. Could be that is what he is taking a stand on, and I agree 100% with the gentleman.

Go Rand Paul.

Rand Paul is a strange cat - he’s sorta like the GOP version of Joe Lieberman.

He’s a RINO - but he doesn’t fall in line with progressives and commies. So I don’t think he’s a bad RINO. But he’s also not a Republican, because he divides from issues that form solid republics.

And he did say, “I would use a drone to kill someone robbing a convenience store (sic)” and that is eery.

But even Carson said that inner city dwellers shouldn’t have access to the same guns that rural folk do. And these aren’t my positions on these topics at all, nor are they republican positions.

Actually, think about this again. What I heard on the news last night, that the reason the republicans wanted to vote for this huge budget amount is that one hand they will vote to repeal Obamacare and with the other hand vote for something that is very similar with just another name. That is why he voted no...the only one with guts and I don’t like Rand Paul at all. In this case, he is a profile in courage.

Could be. Maybe not. I'm certainly not going to go to the Washington Post to get more information lies on the matter. President-Elect Trump has shown the value of bypassing the MSM propaganda filters and delivering his statements directly to the people. I wish more of our politicians would do the same.

I don’t blame him.
But I don’t trust the numbers.

And I haven’t heard any more about switching to ‘dynamic scoring’.

Rand Paul is an attention whoring contrarian. Nothing more. The problem he has is that he is an island, and his lone opinion will only make him look like a gadfly.

Rand, I used to think highly of you.
Now I think you are either very stupid or very bought/owned.
You are hereby forwarded to my virtual garbage heap.

I’ve about had it with Republicans not getting 10000% behind our Donald. What more, as a People, must be done to communicate the direction we want our country to take?

Pitchforks for ALL those who oppose DJT and his proposals.

"...I agree 100% with the gentleman. Go Rand Paul."

I don't because he is a Libertarian like his father and I have never agree with their "isolationist" policies nor their economic policies. While I applaud his simplistic outlook regarding the debt, he doesn't realize with a 4.5% GDP we could start paying down the debt. He truly doesn't understand the power of commerce and growth as our businessman PE Trump knows and is already making happen.

Ron and Rand Paul are simpletons. They believe pull up the draw bridge all will be good. They just don't get that the World is complicated and the USA needs to be involved.
Although, we don't need the UN and now questioning NATO, we need to lead through strong unwavering diplomacy and strength of military. It worked in the past and will work again.

Time for America to lead the world again. Rand Paul: lead, follow, or get the f*ck out of the way. Since you don't know how to actually lead, and apparently can't follow the wishes of the electorate, then go away.

Or, Rand Paul can join Collins and the Buttbrothers in their coming attempts to keep the status quo in DC.

Why is THIS Congress assuming an EXTRA $9 TRILLION in debt for the next number of years? The annual budgets under 0bama have been $1.1-1.2 Trillion. Was that simply not enough?

Nice job, there, Frodo.

How did this guy get elected, anyway? He has all the personality of a wet rock.

As Trump divests D.C. of funding for jobs in the local congressional districts and sends the pork back to districts across the country, he should tell Rand that his state will not get it’s share unless he is loyal to the cause.

I am not going to give the WP the ad revenue for the click...anyone know/have a source as to why there is a $9 trillion obligation to fully repeal Obamacare? Repeal means that everyone added via Medicaid is back off and subsidies for Obamacare are gone. Should be revenue neutral (back to the way is was in 2007).

Shush, you’re not supposed to care about that. Now that we will have a unified GOP government, fiscal conservatives are no longer wanted.

When profligacy breaks the coalition that has been winning elections for the GOP, it will be your fault for not going along to get along.
