The Fable of Edward Snowden
Wall Street Journal ^ | Dec. 30, 2016 | Edward Jay Epstein

Posted on 12/31/2016 5:54:51 PM PST by Robert DeLong

Of all the lies that Edward Snowden has told since his massive theft of secrets from the National Security Agency and his journey to Russia via Hong Kong in 2013, none is more provocative than the claim that he never intended to engage in espionage, and was only a “whistleblower” seeking to expose the overreach of NSA’s information gathering. With the clock ticking on Mr. Snowden’s chance of a pardon, now is a good time to review what we have learned about his real mission.

A hit piece perfectly timed to cast doubt on both Snowden and Wikileaks. Snowden’s twitter over the last several days has been linking to the articles that analyze and undermine the JAR report. Since the JAR makes the opposite conclusion of Assange’s own statements about Russian involvement, a narrative is being amped-up that Snowden and Wikileaks have been in bed with the Russians all this time. In other words, we should stop listening to the guys and just trust the govt., mmm kay?

Although if true, it would certainly change my opinion of Snowden.

The NSA lied. We know that now. And we only know it because of Snowden. The US tried everything they could to get Snowden. And they make sure he can never get to another country. Snowden like Assange, are captive because the US wants them to be.

Our government is on the same continuum as the Russian government. Sometimes we are better, sometimes they are. We have not sent a radio-active spy to Britain. I don’t believe we have shot journalists. But we are far from perfect. And we have caused a great deal of trouble in foreign countries.

Ever since the patriot act, our constitution has not been adhered to by our government with regards to spying within the country. Homeland security is simply the beginning of what will evolve into the equivalent of the SS or the KGB. Its just an infant now. But in several years, and with each tragedy, DHS will gradually develop into our worst nightmare.

Please see both my posts to Robert De Long. Epstein is merely transferring the stilted and dishonest template for the way he presented Lee Harvey Oswald, 38 years ago in LEGEND, to Edward Snowden. He is a useful CIA asset.

In my view, you are all “right on” ! Glad you are able to see beyond the current propaganda. Not everyone can, or wants to. See my two other posts to Robert DeLong.

Meant to add your name to my last post, and the 3 other recipients, because I misspelled it. See my other two posts to Robert De Long, also.

otherwise known as the "Duck Test"

Looks like a duck

Acts like a duck

Talks like a duck

Probably a duck!

I always wondered why folks make things so complicated? Except in Snowden case, I assume for reasons unknown to us . . . alot of disinformation is disseminated

A few things I don't understand... 1. He was in the run living in the slums of Hong Kong. Who are these people? I see that HK makes protesters list their organization. The group is this called "Socialist Action.". Who the heck are they and why are Socialists protesting surveillance? 2. Snowden is on the run, GGW and Poitras come to his aid? Seems like Kabuki theater but maybe I'm wrong there. How did they find him but US Intel did not find him? Think about that one. 3. Why did he only release "NSA is watching you" through your calls and financial transactions etc etc. He had no releases about deaths and disappearances. I'm just asking what I think are legitimate questions. USA Families that have had actual physical harm done to them may be asking the same questions... Why were his releases only about PRISM and metadata and spying, but not about harmful operations. My main question is how did GGW find him but US Intel did not find him.

He managed to make it through because it’s likely he gave the Chinese a nice large chunk of information that they are able to work with to work against our government’s interests (all governments on the planet work against each other of course). Realistically, the Chinese knew who he was and what he was up to. He certainly wasn’t unknown to the higher ups and he was certainly not at all able to avoid being stopped in a Chinese airport. No one in China would have let him pass through to asylum in Russia if not for the fact that he was giving them something substantial in return. If he had not, the Chinese would have turned Snowden to the US government ASAP.

I sincerely loathe GW Bush for creating that dept. of our government. We already had the CIA and FBI already so realistically, he had no business creating yet ANOTHER spy organization. I hope Trump dissolves this and taxpayers won’t have to pay for that.

At some point Snowden’s usefulness will end and someone will arrange either an accident or Snowden will get ‘food poisoning.’ Snowden can’t last forever and since he’s not a native citizen, Snowden is there only until he’s no longer in possession of any leverage.

Snowden likely gave the Russians and Chinese info on those who operate in our intelligence agencies. Thousands are likely in danger, along with their families. As far as I’m concerned I sincerely believe that he’s a horrific traitor and frankly I do not believe that there’s any reason whatsoever that he should be given a pardon. He stole more than just info about the spy programs.

I appreciate that Snowden revealed the unconstitutional actions taken by my government and its many agencies. These actions are illegal and no one has been held accountable yet.

Those who authorized these actions by government should be charged with crimes and held accountable in court.

Then again the OPM allowed all the SF86s to be hacked ... speaking of giving information about who all the cleared people are.

Here is a running ‘list’ of people who are no longer with us due to questionable circumstances during the reign of Emperor Soetoro.

I would trust Edward Snowden and his motives much more readily than ANYTHING Edward J. Epstein has to say. His book INQUEST came out in ‘78, and is still regarded as a partial Gospel by people too lazy to have delved very deeply in the assassination of JFK. He is one of many disinformation specialists and the fact that his book came out 15 years after the event, suggests that it was intended to quell the rising tide of AUTHENTIC and INDEPENDENT research as to who in fact was behind the assassination. There have been many like Epstein, both before and after him.All you will ever need to know about the assassination can be found in Vincent Salandria’s COPA speech from the 90s, called False Mystery. It’s online. Epstein is and was a CIA asset. It is fitting also that he is associated with M.I.T. , which was put on the map by another “Gatekeeper” and fake “Radical” , Noam Chomsky.
