Roll Tide! Alabama crushed the Washington Huskies, 24-7, in the 2016 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, college football playoff game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Dec. 31st. Keep reading for all the details on this epic matchup!
What an amazing game! Alabama, the reigning National and SEC champions, defeated a strong Washington Huskies team 24-7 in the Peach Bowl. Washington jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter but then the Crimson Tide, led by young quarterback Jalen Hurts, 18, came roaring back and controlled the rest of the game. Alabama will now return to the National Championship game on Jan. 9, 2017, against the winner of Fiesta Bowl, which features Clemson versus Ohio State.
Turnovers and defense made the difference in this wild battle. Washingtons QB Jake Browning, 20, the sophomore from Folsom, California connected early with his receiver Dante Pettis, 20, for a touchdown but then the Huskies struggled to get anything going after the first quarter. A fumble followed by an interception returned for a touchdown demoralized the overmatched Washington team. The second half of the game continued to be all Bama.
The Tide wore down Washingtons defense from every angle. On the ground and in the air Alabama proved to the Washington fans why they are the reigning champions and why they deserve a seat at the big title game on Jan. 9th

I wasn't that familiar with Ohio but I was surprised at Clemson's ease of winning....especially a shut-out.
BTW, most of the people at the 1926 Washington - Alabama Rose Bowl game were USC fans and they were rooting for Alabama, not Washington.
I fear Clemson may win the coming Championship game. Alabama's offense is severly lacking, especially the passing game.
Thanks for the Wikipedia referral. Really liked reading it because as a backyard “cowboy” in the late ‘40s and early ‘50s me and my gang of rustlers enjoyed watching many of his movies.
Happy New Year!

And also to you. Hopefully it will be a year of good health for you and for all Freepers, and a year of good news regarding Trump’s monumental task of returning our country to a position of strength and prosperity.
Unique among college football fans, SEC fans put loyalty to conference over any individual rivalry.
The SEC has the best eye candy of all the conferences but way too much make up and puffed up hair for 18-early 20 olds. They don’t need it.
I watched the game and disappointed the Dawgs did not change its scheme coming into and during the game. The Dawgs needed to adopt some max protect schemes to give Browning time to throw the ball downfield against the weakest part of the ‘Bama defense. Instead they kept to the shotgun, 4 receiver sets with only 5 blockers and Browning got smashed with only time for dink and dunk passes.
I don't remember anything particularly striking about Deshaun Watson (#2 Heisman) during our game last year either.
We'll see.
No New Year’s bowls today cause it’s Sunday.
Bama and Clemson in the title game.
I think it was Paul Dietzel who came up with the name.
you are in fact correct...great coach...
